Things are feeling too 'easy'?

Good afternoon forum,

I am post-op RNY, day 3. Out of the hospital for one full day now.

I have found that things seem almost too easy... For months before surgery I read these forums and prepared myself for pain, difficulty eating and drinking, constipation, etc. I have not found this to be the case for me though.

I had surgery at 1PM on Thursday and was up for my first walk (2 laps down the hall) at 8PM. Went for more longer walks during the rest of my hospital stay. I was even able to sleep on my side the night after surgery.. The nurse said it was OK as long as it was OK for me.

Tolerating pain very well, was on liquid Tylenol and Tramadol every four hours in hospital. Since being home I am just on Tylenol.

I find I can easily drink 3oz/hour, probably more but I don't want to pu**** No nausea or upset stomach yet. In the hospital I was even given apple sauce with my meds and I tolerate it just fine.

Did anyone else have an 'easy' time? It's not at all what I expected. I even jokingly asked the nurse.... Are you sure I had surgery?

This is the norm, really. You only read bad things, because most people only write about problems, not lack of problems.

One day fairly soon you will eat a little too fast, or swallow without chewing well enough. And it will hurt like heck. Then you'll know for sure you had surgery.

What Grimm said also! I thought I had it super easy too, but I had little issues like he mentioned eventually. Be glad you aren't having the complications you read about!

I had surgery same day and no real issues. The only pain I have is from my hernia repair
