So i have been having pain under my rib cages. i am 17 months post bypass surgery and this pain just started in the last few months. It is not all the time and seems to alternate sides. Its not severe pain but enough to make you know it's there. Anyone experience this type of pain and know what it is or what could be causing it?

I'm not much help... but maybe a hernia? Gallbladder?

I'd go see your doc and he can probably help you out better than I can! LOL

Good afternoon, I would definitely run it by your surgeon. I have had a similar issue before, and for me after an having and ultrasound and finding nothing we chalked it up to gas. Now I keep things like Gas-X in the cupboard and purse. If I start to feel the pain I take one.

Is it a sharp pain or a dull ache? Any new pain would warrant a trip to the doc for me.

I had a series of pains when I had my surgery. Finally doctors elected to remove my gallbladder. It did ease the pain but never got completely rid of it. I have noticed that if I drink a lot of water (not the same with crystal light oddly enough), then I can get severe stomach pain. It has been so bad that I have had to spend nights in the hospital. Upon one visit to the ER I was told that on some scans it looked as those my intestines had either a block or flipped. I was admitted but after some pain meds I was fine and nothing else ever showed up. Once I was able to have a bowel movement I was released.

I have discussed with my surgeon and he seems at a loss too. However, if you google you can find people who have had similar pains from drinking water after the surgery. I just stopped drinking so much water and focused more on crystal light and I rarely, if ever have the pain anymore.

Do you have your gallbladder?

was your liver tested for nASH disease?

are your bloodwork numbers fine?

have you been pooping regularly?
