Left side pain

I know this is not a new topic...but I need help.

Immediately post op I had pulling/pinching pain when I reached down or moved wrong. That has mostly subsided, only to be replaced with terrible left side pain under my lower ribs. I read that this is common. My question is what helped you and how long does it typically last?

I'm 17 days post op and this started 2 days ago. I tried ice pack, then heat pack. I ended up putting my binder back on last night and taking a pain pill (which I haven't taken for 12 days) Movement makes it way worse, so I'm on the couch. Being on the couch and not active is not ok as I've been steadily more active this past week.

Hi, I had that too. It hurt whether I was sitting or walking. It just recently went away but what I found was that it was more apparent when I was gassy. From what I understand, the left side is where a lot of the surgical work and bowel work is done.

I found if I kept moving and walking it helps.

Many people have that happen to them. It's a build up of air and fluids they pump in you. It goes away with time. The more you can walk the quicker it will get better. It took me about 3 weeks before it was all better. Good luck !

That is where they do the most work. Pretend you are swimming with your arms, helps release pressure
