Getting dumping syndrome so much

I've just been moved to pureed foods. I have tried corned beef/hash mixed with cottage cheese and chicken broth. I have tried pureed eggs with cottage cheese, very little mayo a touch of mustard and again.. nope. I just drank 1 cup of unjury chicken soup protein mix, and halfway through I felt like I was getting symptoms similar to dumping so I stopped. So far, everything excep****er/powerade zero/ just straight cottage cheese is making me feel weak, sick to stomach and then horrid diarrhea.

I need help on finding more foods I can try to puree and get something more into me. I'm not understanding how before I was having no issues with soups or anything almost 2 weeks ago but now, even some of those same soups are now telling me, nope.. keep going and your going to be miserable. If I don't lay down then I know I'm going to throw up.

I'm also now having to take my anti nausea meds. I can't stand this dumping syndrome. If anyone has any ideas for food please help, I just seen my nut. and nurse and I was ok that day but now this.

This doesn't sound like dumping, nor does what your eating make sense for it to be dumping. (Corned beef has/cottage cheese and broth would make me gag any day...) I don't eat cottage cheese- but is it milk-based? Maybe you've developed a lactose intolerance?

Sounds like a finicky pouch that is making up the rules as it goes. Eat what you can tolerate now- you've got a lifetime ahead to expand your diet.

I agree with Peach that isn't dumping. Dumping makes you have a headache, hot sweats, and you just want to lay on the cool floor. More likely you are eating the wrong foods for you. Move away from any milk based foods and go with base foods like tuna, hummus, mashed beans. Stay away from carbs and sugars. Once you find a food that works, add one food new every two days and see what doesn't work. Also, eat slowly, follow the 10/20/30 rule with drinks.

As others said, definitely not dumping. You are only 2 weeks out of surgery, and still healing. I was still on liquids at that point.

Very often, when you advance your diet, you will have bumps in the road. Totally normal. I always backed off for a day of protein shakes when that happened, and then topk baby steps.

Hang in there. It gets better.

I'll try tuna, mashed beans, or hummus. My nutritionist told me she wants me to get my calories up because 150 is way too low. I also have to move to protein whey isolate and see if I can stop the huge amount of gas I was getting from my protein drink. (hence why I'm only getting around 150 cals.. i couldn't drink my protein drink) Thank you everyone for your suggestions and I'll try it out.

I'm wondering, is low-fat refried beans ok to puree with a little cheese?

Just a suggestion to skip the cheese until you can eliminate whether you're experiencing lactose intolerance?

And I wouldn't worry about fat content; no need to eat low-fat beans as full fat is what many of us consume.

FWIW, I couldn't handle pouch/canned tuna for months...

But fresh fish went down just fine.

But at only two weeks... I was still on liquids. And only a spoonful or two at a time.

Find your protein drink, like other's have suggested, and concentrate on getting that down along with your water.

I am going to chime in on the tuna... I couldn't eat canned tuna for at least 6 months... fresh fish yes. Syntrax is a good brand of protein with lots of non creamy flavors like ice tea and lemonade. I personally like the fuzzy navel.

I have a finicky pouch as well. It has been challenging. 1) Find a protein drink that you can tolerate. It will make you feel better if you can get your protein in. I hated the one I used preop after surgery and then 2 weeks in the one I was using post op made me sick so I had to find a new one. Now they all make me sick but it helped me over that hump. 2) step back in your progression. I had to move a week back when I moved to soft ground foods. Nothing on the list worked for me at that time so I went back to the plan the week before and slowly advanced. My Dr also recommended that if you throw up after eating, eat bland the next day or just do protein shakes, so your stomach can heal. This is also when I had to start the anti nausea meds again.

I'm 3.5mos post op now and its still a challenge to find what works. My stomach is super sensitive and things that worked one day may not work the next. Just keep plugging away and go slowly.
