Hello my North American friends

I am sorry that I have been MIA most of summer.

I wish I could have been more supportive of everyone.

I have been ridiculously busy with life and 3 young men in football.

I am just over 9 months out and I am down 116 lbs. I am currently 166 lbs. I must admit that I have maintained 170 for months but have found that I am leaner. The scale doesn't seem to reflect the weight loss. My doctor was happy when I reached 190 lbs but I wanted to aim for 160 to allow for rebound weight gain and wiggle room.

I have gone from a size 22-23 to a size 10 in pants & medium tops! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Has anyone found that they look leaner but the scale does not reflect that?

I have come such a long way and I am greatful and blessed to have all your support. This gift has been life changing...

I have included a before and after. Quite honestly... I don't recognize that person in the photo and I pray that I will never ever see her again.

Thanks again

Sandra

Not personal experience (yet), but my husbands. He's stalled a few times since his RNY in May, but tends to drop sizes during those stalls. He has been working out at the gym, but he also thinks that during those stalls, his weight is redistributing, so even though the scale doesn't move, his clothes fit differently. Could be a combo of the gym weight training and that. We joke that he's "morphing," because he's a super hero nerd.

Are you taking your measurements or have you had your bodyfat measured? Those are good tools to see if we are actually getting leaner. I did go through periods when I lost inches but not pounds on the scale.

Keep up the good work!! Remember, it gets harder from here so never stop fighting!!

Hello Laura!

Thank you for responding...

I never ever did measurements...

Wish I had... My BMI was 28.2 @ 6 months.

with the exception of my abdomen.

I am going to my 9 month soon. I am hoping to hop on that special scale and have my BMI done.

I was stuck at 170 for a long time, but people were telling me that I looked skinnier.

Thrilled to be wearing a size 10 pant & medium top.

When does it get hard? One year, 18 months ?

What happens?

Thanks for your input!

Sandra

You look amazing, Sandra, and are doing great! You look so happy and at ease, and you are rocking that dress!

Last month my weight loss almost stalled (it slowed down significantly and stopped altogether for 2 weeks), but in that time, I suddenly dropped a size, from 14 to 12 pants, which was wonderful and made up for the slow down.

I hope to never see the pre op me again too.

Congrats on all of your weight loss!!! You look beautiful. Something to remember is that muscle weighs more than fat. If you have been at the gym gaining muscle, your body will change but the scale might not budge. It has happened to me before. You can always try measuring yourself to see the number change!
