How do you keep food hot?

I have moved up to soft foods! Hooray! But it takes almost an hour to eat my 2-3oz. of protein. How do y'all keep your food warm all that time? I started with a nice piping hot cabbage roll and by the end it was an ice cold meat lump of sadness :(

My rules say meals shouldn't last for more than 30 mins. So if I don't finish, I stop eating.

I am a slow eater too. I bought a mug warmer early out and it works great to keep my food and beverages hot. I still use it at 9 months out. I hate eating at restaurants because I miss my mug warmer, lol.

My guidelines also say meals shouldn't last longer than half an hour but my surgeon and I talked and he said those guidelines are in place for people who can eat larger amounts quickly, to stop them from over eating, not for people who struggle to get the food in. He told me to take as long as I need to get my nutrients in.

I was also told by my surgeon to stop eating afree 20 minutes. If it takes you an hour to eat, 1) something may not be right 2) if you continue it, it becomes like you are grazing all day and that can set you up for failure down the road.3) it makes it very difficult to get in your necessary liquids since you cannot drink for the hour you are eating and for a half hour afterward. Multiply that by 3 meals a day, and that means that you cannot drink for 4.5 hours during your waking hours each day.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I do not follow the hour before eating rule, though my surgeon's plan doesn't say to wait that long anyway, it says 30 min before and after. I usually keep drinking right up until I start eating, but don't drink during my meal or shortly after. Only time I drank during a meal was when I took a bite out of my food and got a big mouth full of a serrano pepper piece I wasn't expecting. Thought steam was going to come out of my ears!

Try splitting that into more meals. I don't know what or how you are eating now, but if it is taking you that long to eat that, then you should cut them bac****il you get a bit more comfortable and healing done with your pouch. I'm almost 11 months out and 3oz for most dense proteins isn't easy. I measure out 3oz, but I never fini**** so I get more like 2oz out of my meal (and then my chihuahua waits patiently for the rest.) Do 1 oz at a time and try doing 4-5 meals a day, I was doing that for a good while.
