Mornin' All!

I set my alarm to get up and go to sunrise yoga this morning, but when it went off, I knew it wasn't going to happen. Plus it is now a blistering -5 degrees F (as in 5 DEGREES BELOW ZERO) at almost 10:00 am - so it would have been even colder at 6:00. No thanks! I think I will stay home today. Besides, I'm a little sore from my massage yesterday (not that that is a good excuse or anything...). Maybe if I'm feeling motivated later, I'll go to an afternoon class.

I went off plan a couple of times yesterday (half a piece of cornbread, plus a lemon bar), but overall it was an OK day. Weight still at 146, which I was glad to see. Maybe once I get back into my normal routine next week (i.e., going to work), it'll drop back below 145. I'm happy when it's below 145.

QOTD: we don't have any traditions for New Year's Eve - and we haven't gone out for years. I'm too afraid of drunk drivers, and neither of us is really the partying type. For the last five years or so, though, we've gone to a New Year's Day potluck brunch at a friend's house. It's usually the same 10 or so people who go, so we know them really well and always look forward to it. We usually go around 11:00 and stay all afternoon. I'm supposed to bring a vegetarian entree. I wanted to bring something new and different and exotic, so I spent a lot of time going through my cookbooks and searching www.epicurious.com, but I think I'll just make a vegetarian chili instead. It's easy - I'll just throw everything in my Instant Pot. Plus most people like chili, it's a great food for a cold day, and DH and I will make good use of any leftovers since we often make a pot of chili on fall & winter weekends anyway (for lunches during the week).

2 years 6 months out:

B: homemade plain Greek yogurt with 1 T tahini and 2 t jam mixed in

S: coffee with half & half, protein/Miralax latte shake

L: chicken salad (made with plain Greek yogurt) in a Flat Out wrap

D: regular salad with diced chicken, cup of cauliflower cheese soup

maybe a piece of crustless protein pumpkin pie later on if I can afford the calories

Happy Saturday!!!

today I took a road trip out to Girdwood with a coworker as moral support for her first on-site makeup gig. She totally doesn't need me but I'm happy to be here if it makes her feel more confident:)

qotd: no traditions really. Hubby's coworker is having a New Year's Eve party so we'll probably go to that. I'm a little nervous to be there though since I'm an introvert/observer and won't really know anyone there. Usually I have to have a couple drinks in me to feel like I can break out of my shell and be more social but I don't want the extra calories and I reallllly don't want to cross the line of comfortably buzzed over into "you've had too much to drink" area. Not to mention all the party food! Pray for me, guys! Lol

b: coffee with a little cream

l: hopefully riceless sushi

d: probably leftovers or a tuna packet with a touch of mayo for mixing

s: Greek l&f

v: doubled up on patches. Been feeling exhausted lately. My iron is super low so I need to start taking an oral supplement but they upset my tummy big time :(

e: god, give me strength to make it happen today! I'm just so dang tired!!!

have a great weekend everybody

I'll be thinking of you and wishing you the best for the party. If your tummy can take it, drink flavored sparkling water. I used to love it, but now it just makes me feel bloated...sigh! In any way, stay hydrated, it will help you get through the evening.

As for the iron, I have the same problem with oral iron. JB just suggested Carbonyl Iron that is supposed to be easier on the tummy. I just got it so I don't know yet, but give it a try.

I take carbonyl iron as well (have for the last two years or so). It's never bothered my stomach. Most people tolerate it really well. That, and heme iron (which is a lot more expensive). Hopefully the carbonyl will do the trick for you!
