How long to eat...

Hi all...wondering how long it should take me to eat a quarter cup (60mls?) of strained cream soup? I ate mine in 20 minutes but could have been done in 15 and that worried me. Normal? Should I pace it out longer?

I think that's fine. Take your time eating, but things like soup are a little easier to get down and don't take as long. I know the first few days I was able to do 1oz (30ml) in about 10-15 minutes) and it slowly increased a bit from there. I'm 1.5 weeks out now and I can do 4oz in 15-20 min now.

Did you get direction from your program? Mine was to eat over/within 30 minutes. It never took that long. I think the time maximum is the greater message- so you are not grazing constantly. When you eat to fast early on- trust me- you'll know!

I was told what Peach said. Eat your food and don't graze. Finish your food and set the timer for 30 minutes before drinking after eating.

Yes, they said generally meals should be finished in 30-40 mins. That's what I was concerned about that it only took 20 and I was having small spoonfuls and putting spoon down in between. I wanted to make sure I wasn't going too fast and wrecking something. Other foods have taken much longer. The grazing piece makes sense...this early out it sometimes does take longer to get the 1/2 cup of yogurt or whatever down but the soup went so fast I wanted to double check. At least with water I have the 30mls in 15 minutes guideline. Wasn't sure if there was something similar for a soup type thing. Thanks for the answers.

I had the opposite problem in that it took me hours to get small portions down. It turned out I had severe inflammation and had to do an extra month of full liquids and purees, so if you can get things down that must mean things are going well for you.

It does seem like things are really progressing in terms of how fast I can get things in/how much I can have. It took 2.5 hours the first day for a half cup of yogurt. Only an hour yesterday. The soup went so fast I was like wait what... lol. I think because it was thinner. Poor you for the extra month! That must have been tough. I'm making sure to limit to a quarter or half cup of things just so I don't have my portions off early. What sorts of things did you purée? I've got another week and a half still until purées but wondering what kinds of things I'll eat then.

When I was looking at the chart of suggested meals it would include soup and then yogurt or something so I was thinking thats where the 30-40 minutes come in, I've been using a demitasse spoon so I don't eat too much at once. What kind of soups have you tried? I've done cream of tomato and potato so far.

I'm using the really small spoons too. It definitely helps! I have only had cream of broccoli and cheddar cheese. I did buy cream of chicken and cream of bacon as well. I've never had the bacon one but figured maybe some kind of different flavour might be good.

Yeah, the extra month was no fun, but it did help me to lose more quickly than I would have otherwise, I think.

I pureed eggs with plain Greek yogurt and a tsp of light mayo for a pureed egg salad. I did chicken with plain Greek yogurt and a bit of hot sauce for a yummy pureed hot wings flavor. I pureed beef with gravy and plain Greek yogurt (I basically added plain Greek yogurt to everything, lol). I basically pureed any meat my family was eating, but added some sort of liquid, yogurt, or sauce to make it smooth enough. My favorite was the chicken. I only ate pureed food once per day; I did premier protein for breakfast and cottage cheese or yogurt for lunch most days, and saved the puree for supper.
