This will sound funny but: cherish this time! There is something so special and exciting about standing on the precipice of change. It will be uncomfortable and there might be some not so fun moments, but it's also so exciting!

Your feelings are SO normal. Best of luck, can't wait to have you on the losers bench with us ;)

So happy to hear that you did have the surgery! I know it was scary in the last days prior to surgery. I had Roux-en-Y in August 2003. I was a little scared, my husband was a lot scared as were our children. I have trouble waking up from anesthesia, so I was worried about not waking up after the surgery. The surgical team was aware of my issues, so it was fine. I was in Recovery longer than most, they let my husband stay in Recovery with me the whole time and let our adult daughters come in for a few minutes at a time. Once I went to a regular room, I had a private duty nurse that was with me 24 hours in 8 hour shifts of course. They were provide by the hospital, I'm not rich :) I was 319 before the surgery, I'm now 175. I never got down to the 145 which was my goal weight. I'm now about to be 60 years old and am fine with my weight. I wear a size 14, so I don't have to shop at Plus Size stores. I'm sure Lane Bryant misses me :) I no longer have Sleep Apnea nor Diabetes. I do still have High Blood Pressure, my doctor took me off the blood pressure once I lost about 75 pounds. She assumed my blood pressure issues was weight related. Apparently it was inherited. The days will get easier for sure! I had open surgery, because in 2003 Insurance Companies considered Laparoscopic experimental and didn't cover it. I had 99 staples from my breast bone to my belly button. I was in a great deal of pain for a few weeks.

Hi, my surgery is 3/19/18 I read about your pre-op anxieties, I'm feeling them too. Then I saw you post-op msg "I did it!" and I started bawling happy tears for you and I think for me too. Thank you for sharing and good luck with everything

The best to you.... you will be so happy you did this. Maybe not immediately but trust me you will be so much happier and healthier in a short while. Stay positive and walk as soon as you can and sip your water!
