I'm 10 weeks post-op and totally exhausted most of the time. Right now everything feels like a struggle. I mowed my lawn the other day and wasn't sure I could lift the catcher to empty it I was so exhausted, feeling like I was going to keel over. The first few weeks after surgery was this way, I was afraid I was going to fall down in my shower I had to lean against the wall the prevent it. I thought it would get much better but it really hasn't. I usually average

It really can take awhile. I was dead tired for weeks and then I would feel good in the morning and dead tired after a few hours. Your body is healing from major surgery and at 10 weeks you aren't eating alot of food either. I suggest continuing to drink as many fluids as you are able and also lots of protein. They will both help your body heal and increase your strength. I also found that if I was walking regularly, even slow and short, that I felt better and more energetic.

Also mowing the lawn is hard work at the best of times. I would be surprised if you didn't feel exhausted afterward.

Keep at it gently and include lots of rest for your body to heal. As you eat more, heal more and lose more weight, you will have more strength and endurance.

I'm at 8 weeks and sooo low energy all the time and just plain exhausted. At times it is so bad I'm weak or have trouble functioning with just doing daily things. Other times I have more energy but I'm shocked at how long it's taking to get back energy. I thought maybe a vitamin level was off but my blood work results showed levels were fine. I have no solutions, just wanted to say I guess it just takes time, in a few months we will have lots of energy!

It's not uncommon for us to lose up to a half pound per day for many months right after surgery. That's a good thing but it's very taxing on the body.

A solid, consistent sleep schedule is very important.

I'm 10 weeks also and talked to the doc, he said 3-6 months. Although everything's healed on the outside, internally we're still recovering from major surgery, we're extremely calorie restricted, and it just takes time. Get your protein in, get your fluids in, take your vitamins, and get your exercise -- and rest when you need it! We'll come out on the other side better than before!!

It took me a full 6 months to get my energy back. I exercised as well, which you would think might help. I have had a couple other surgeries such as gall bladder removed, 2 ovarian tumors removed (open abdomen surgery), neither of these left me exhausted like RNY (which was laparoscopic?). Once my energy came back, it was back for good.... that is the good news! Hang in there!

I'm at 11 weeks and I'm exhausted I worked a full day yesterday usually only work 4 hours a day and I was wiped out like I ran a marathon. Today I'm so tired went shopping with my mom no nap which has been hard. Nap when you can that's what I like to try and do. Hang in there they say it takes at least 3 months to get your energy back!

I was wondering about this same thing over the weekend. Thanks for posting the question. It is somewhat disheartening to read that it could take several months to get energy levels back to where they were. I seem to hit a wall about the same time every afternoon and get really fatigued and slugish. I've got enough energy stored up in fat that you would think the body would use that for energy but I don't claim to know a lot about how and what fat storage is used for when it is burned, just a thought.
