RNY Patient with no gallbladder- Keto Diet

Ok so there are too many complexities to this question so I havent successfully found any similar threads anywhere. Basically I had my gallbladder removed 4 years prior to my RNY. I am 6 weeks post op but I am sticking to a Keto diet as this follows my surgeons recommendation for low carb. Note: TMI is coming. For the past week my stools have been very very light in color and are looser. I am not jaundice so I don't think my liver is having issues (but have an appointment with my surgeon to follow up). Does anyone know how not having a gallbladder when we have bypassed the majority of the small intestines means esp in regards to eating a higher fat diet? My portions are tiny but I am basically eating only meat and cheese in differing combinations at this time. Any thoughts or wisdom?

I have my gallbladder and I too had yellow & loose stool right after gastric bypass. It resolved fairly quickly.

I think most of us only eat protein for almost the first year. I lost my GB way before WLS. I had loose stools for about 7 months, then it swung the other way.

True Keto is high fat, moderate protein and with our protein requirements and space limitations that is hard. I found if I got over 60% fat I didn't feel well.

I also have no gall bladder and for the first few weeks to a month or so I had very light colored (sometimes green) loose stools. It has resolved since then. I think the body just has a weird adjustment time. All the sudden, food is moving through faster than it did before.

Yellow stools are consistent with a high fat diet.

I love cheese as much as the next person but it is a high calorie / high fat food. A one inch cube is usually 100+ calories.

I'm a big fan of Fage brand Greek yogurt. It's not as sexy as cheese but it's got good numbers for us and the gut loves it. Good poo food.

Bile usually change the poo color from bland to brown..

I lost my GB 6 months post op RNY. While doing keto - it takes time for my liver to adapt and make more bile "as needed". As long as you are not in pain - I would not worry about it. Some fats don't need bile, they can absorb as they are. .
