10 Year Surgiversary!!

Ten years ago today I had RNY and have had no regrets. Maybe the first days I might have had buyer's remorse. Those days were rough.

I did have 14 lbs. of regain in the last year but have taken that off except for 3 lbs. That first year I avoided all those foods that were deemed bad for WLS patients. As the years have gone by, I've not always stuck to the plan. Fortunately, sugar still makes me sick and I'm so glad. For a long time, I had no desire for sweets, but unfortunately, I do want sweets now. I have problems with sugar alcohols too.

Before WLS, I always wondered from season to season if my clothes would fit, but I'm still wearing the same size season after season.

WLS is one of the best things I ever did.

Congratulations on 10 years! My own 10 years comes this December.

Hopefully you can stay around to post. Longer term post ops are far outnumbered by surgery newbies here and another voice could be helpful.

Congratulations! It is so great to hear of your decade long success post-RNY! Often on the Internet you only hear about negative issues with gastric bypass, that people aren't able to maintain weight loss long term, that the only surgery that has any real long term success is the DS, which then skews what results can be expected. I'm encouraged, thank you! I'm also happy to hear that clothes can fit season over season, year over year.

Congratulations on your 10-year surgiversary! How encouraging to hear that you've maintained so successfully. It's so good to know that you're wearing the same size, year after year! I will strive for the same success as the years go on. Kudos to you for consistently doing what it takes to maintain your health and shape!

Thanks for all your positive remarks. I'm feeling pretty successful. I would like to lose another 20 lbs., but maintaining is okay too.
