What calorie count do you shoot for?

My first week back has been kind of a bust. I clearly need to plan better and get more organized. Last time I was doing this I was a year out from surgery and shooting for under 1000. Now I am 2 years out and nursing a baby. I want to lose slowly so as to keep my milk supply up, so I am trying to come up with a calorie count that will help me lose weight but not as fast as before. What kind of numbers do you plan?

I can't find it but within the last few weeks I think someone asked a similar question on the menu thread so if you have time you might want to check back through those.

How many calories are you eating now? I would figure that out and cut out 500 calories a day. That's what works for me. Typically I eat around 2000 calories a day. When I need to lose a few pounds I cut back to 1500/day.

I cannot handle going super-low anymore. It would make me go crazy and I would end up binging.

I um....kinda havent been tracking since I got pregnant. After the baby was born I lost weight easily. Didnt gain much while pregnant either. The baby had a slow weight gain and was in the 1st percentile...so I need to start carefully. She is up to the 16th percentile now and doing well so I dont want to mess up her milk supply... but my weight is starting to creep up now and I don't want to wait any longer to start working on it. I think I will start tracking at 1800 calories and see if I can slowly start losing at that, if not I'll drop it a little more until I do. I know breastfeeding uses up some calories.

at the very least you could cut out all junk foods, eat high protein and low carb. Get plenty of sf liquids.

If you are eating a lot of junk, simply cutting it out may be all you need to do.
