Gas Pains and Abdominal Cramping

Hello!,

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had a revision from VSG to RNY on 11/6. How long following surgery did your gas pains and cramping last? Aside from walking, what did you do to relieve the pain? Thanks!

I found that a heating pad helped me a lot. I hope it works for you!

Original surgery: VSG Feb. 2009

REVISED TO RNY FEBRUARY 2016

Height: 5'7"

Start weight: 252. Current weight: 120

Could it be lactose intolerance? I found after surgery that I was lactose intolerant and the symptoms were abdominal pains, cramping and gas pain. Especially since you are probably still doing shakes. Just a thought. Sorry you're going through this.

I suppose anything is possible but I'm still on clear liquids with one or two shakes per day. I sure hope that's not the case!

Do the 1-2 shakes that you consume each day contain lactose?

Yes they contain milk. Drinking both Premier Protein and Ensure Max. However, I'm delighted that the pain seems to be easing substantially. I appear to be able to tolerate them now without issue.

My gas pains subsided after about 3-4 days. I hope that you are feeling better.

HA! Yesterday I forced myself to go to the grocery store, took, my time, and walked with the cart around the store at least twice! LOL. I knew I had to MOVE, and figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. I'm certain it helped!
