Morning folks! I'm so glad that we are doing this together. How did things go for Day 6? What are your plans and goals for Day 7? Remember this is a new day and you can refocus again today!

I did better yesterday and thankfully the scale is down another .4 pounds. I started out at 120.2 and was 118.8 this morning. Not bad for 2 years out and one week. The important thing for me is that it is headed in the right direction!

I lowered my coffee yesterday -- 2 (about 28 oz) in the morning and another small coffee (10 oz) after lunch. I got in 64 oz of plain water at work and then another 32 oz in the evening plus my 24 oz protein shake and 16 oz of herbal tea at bedtime. Not bad. I'd like to continue the shift from coffee to water and keep trying the herbal tea at night to help with the late night munchies.

I almost made it to 100 g of protein but my percentage still wasn't where I'd like it to be. I'll keep working on it.

I also did a 3+ mile walk at lunch and half an hour in the gym with my trainer. I'd like to do a 4 mile walk at lunch today. I'm feeling kinda achy so I'm holding off on a run.

I'm here cheering you all on!

So you are already at your goal? Nice!

Yesterday was okay except for a few oatmeal cookies at the end of the day. Calories were still relatively low, but I'm looking forward to having a controlled environment when we return to Florida tomorrow.

Liz, I really hope that getting back to your routine in FL is good for you, DH and Justice! I am such a creature of habit myself and know how hard it can be to stick to your best intentions when things are off kilter!

Actually, I'd really like to be closer to 117 for a safety cushion. Headed that way though so I'm pleased.

Made it through day 2 of back to basics. I can't say that coffee without cream was any easier on day two but hopefully that will happen soon. I drank it that way for years. Calories were a bit over 1000. I usually only weigh on Sundays, but I peeked at the scale early and was pleased with the result.

Congrats on your changes! Yes, having coffee according to our tastes is so hard to change!

Your ticker indicates that you are very close to goal. How is it going? Are you setting a new goal or going to settle in and see what your body decides to do?

Great job!

Good question. My baritrician doesn't give number goals. If I ask her she says that her goal is that my health issues all resolve. Of course she is right, but.. She also continues to talk about a 12-15 month weight loss period.

I am going to try to keep losing. I set my ticker based on being a little lighter than my adult low. When I hit that in my late twenties i was a size 44 suit and 38 pants. Now I weigh less but I'm still a size 46 suit with 36 pants. So i have more abdomen weight and smaller legs than when I last weighed this range. I would like to try and get to size 42. I'm not sure what that would correspond to numbers wise, but it would be less unhealthy abdominal weight.

Have you been swimming? I am hoping to go this weekend if my knees don't get any worse.

Makes sense. Alot of people talk about losing to a cushion for regain but I think it is important to see where your body settles. For me, I was last at this weight when I was bulimic in HS...not healthy then either. Now I am muscular and in good health. Even so my BMI is a 23 since I am short.

If you haven't been doing strength training, I would suggest that you start doing that and working with a trainer. I did mostly cardio for calorie burning for the first 14 months. Now I am working on building muscle and shaping up. It isn't really changing the number on the scale (it may go up) but I have muscle definition and am stronger.

I haven't been swimming as much this fall because I work with my trainer 2-3 days a week and it is hard to schedule. I'd like to go tonight though if I can.

I lifted a lot through my 9 month pre-surgery period and I think it really helped me to recover quickly from surgery. The last time that I lifted was Thanksgiving break and two sessions on just the Cybex machines put me back on crutches. I don't know if it was that I was subtly pushing off the ground even with seated lifts and straining my knees or whether the activity just got more uric acid released into my bloodstream and it settled into my knees but I'm going to be cautious and start back with swimming.

Yes, please be very careful and remember that it isn't a race. If you are interested, my trainer does cyber sessions (Skype, Facetime, Duo, etc.) with people all over the country. He is excellent and at 62, he isn't a 20-something jock trying to prove something. He works with clients from his 15 yo grandson to an 82 yo great grandmother whose goal is just to be able to bend, reach and lift a bit better. Not trying to sell you something, truly! Let me know if you'd like his information and I'll put you in touch for a free session.
