Day 9 - Post-Holiday Reset - AMAW/CAMAW - Back to Basics

Just a quick stop by to get the thread started. I'll be back to tell my sad tale!

weight down again this morning! I was a little surprised as I overshot my range again yesterday (although no bad choices) and feel waterlogged again (the peanut butter, maybe? Or the chicken sausages I had for dinner? Or both?) - but down another half pound regardless. Good!

I usually go to an early morning yoga class on Saturdays but wasn't feeling it today. May go to a later one - or a Zumba class - instead.

Food for the day:

B: homemade coconut Greek yogurt with 1/3 mango, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: homemade cottage cheese

AS: I'm going to have something super filling like a couple of protein peanut butter balls or a bowl of TJ's High Fiber cereal to keep me from straying later (event with (most likely) appetizers....)

D: I'm guessing the event we're going to from 5-7 is going to have appetizers (thus, my filling afternoon snack), so not sure here. If we come home for dinner, I'm thinking turkey meatballs and zoodles.

Janet, I hope you are okay!!

Things are going well for me. I am excited to weigh on Monday.

My new delicious find is from Costco in the frozen section. They have unbreaded blackened chicken breast strips. They are pre-cooked and really yummy and a bit spicy. You warm them up in the oven. Last night I took 3 oz of diced chicken after cooking it and mixed it with 1/2 c. of cauli rice. I scramble an egg in it. I have found my new favorite dinner. So tasty and satisfying.

My hubby and I are headed to the beach today for a night. We weren't going to because we have been spending a lot, but I found a great deal on a beachfront room, so we are doing it!!!

Day four without cream went pretty good. I am starting to get used to it and don't miss those extra calories. I went over plan for calories by about 150 but it was mainly because of eating a little more meat than planned at lunch. That doesn't bother me too much and i'm still in range.

Weight is steadily creeping downward, which is fantastic. I've been bouncing up and down within the same 5 lbs for probably two months. It's been unseasonably nice out so I've been going for walks outside.

im finding it fairly easy to keep to CAMAW now that I'm back at work and on a regular schedule. I did slip yesterday and had some zucchini noodles with meatballs and marinara for lunch. I like that my work caters to people who have different diet restrictions, by providing zucchini noodles on pasta days.

Alright, finally a few minutes to sit still at my computer and log in...

I just couldn't get myself out of bed this morning even though I had lots of early morning errands. Traffic around here gets so bad even on the weekend that we try to get out and done by noon or so. Our TJ's has the worst parking lot and it makes me crazy if we don't get there early.... Then I wanted to go to the Mall, again totally insane by noon, to try on some new bras. Gotta get in and out before the teenagers get out of bed and flood in. I ended up making a large coffee and we hit the road. I didn't even grab any breakfast, which is always a mistake!

Anyway, in all honesty, yesterday was a totally crap day food-wise. I did okay until I got home from the trainers at 1:30 and I was SO hungry! I ate about 4 oz of chicken breast and half a cup of blackberries and felt totally full for about half an hour. Then I felt starving again so I had an ounce of Stilton and an ounce of Manchego cheese. Another hour later I felt starving again and made a huge cup of herbal tea to try to stave off eating again. It just kept on all evening. I ate a turkey Chomps, some steamed shrimp, more cheese, a cup of blueberries, 2 HB eggs and probably something else that I'm not remembering now. It wasn't all bad but I just kept eating and feeling terribly hungry. My fluids, including water and non-caffeinated drinks were very good and I wasn't aware that I was stress eating. I just felt like a bottomless pit.

Then today has been seriously off plan by not eating anything until noon...yeah, no calories but my head always feels deprived when I do that and I fight not to "make up for it" by binging on carbs. Small portions (mostly of dense protein) every 2-3 hours seems to keep things on a better keel for me and help to keep me satisfied and away from the junk. Not doing well with that today.

SO that's where I am at the moment. I'm going to keep trying to reset my brain sooner rather than later. I want to take responsibility for what I put in my mouth and make good choices. Sometimes that works and other times it just doesn't happen as I'd like.

I'm going to make a pot of chicken zoodle soup after I finish writing. It's my version of the recipe that was on OH a couple of weeks ago and it really is comforting and satisfying. I'll portion it out and put most of it in the freezer for meals ahead.

I have not been 100% on plan but have increased my water back up to 100 ounces but the scale is slowly moving in the right direction. I am feeling less bloated and feel better in my clothes. I'm just a work in progress I guess. :)

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

I had some sort of gastric attack a few days before the holiday in December. I had to call an ambulance as I was in no condition to drive after hours of pain. This was not ulcer discomfort. I woke from a nap in a sharp pain that stayed for hours and nothing worked to ease it. I was so embarrassed. My bariatric Dr wants me on liquids until my January appointment on the 11th. It has been hard. I find myself sneaking saltines at night because it is just so hard to function even on full liquids and I have had to do it several times now (pre op before my first surgery, before the medical revision and at various times in recovery). I am trying to stick to generic Dr orders as much as I can until I can be seen though. I suspect it will be written off as "gastritis". It was not my ulcer but it was very real and I am worried it will come up again as randomly as it happened the first time. I can't help the protein shakes and greek yogurt etc. but I CAN clear my area of saltines and trigger foods. I am nauseated a lot and have been alternating zofran and phenergan (although the zofran doesn't seem to help as much as the phenergan). I feel like it takes my stomach most of the day and afternoon to be able to tolerate food. I am mentally struggling with not knowing what caused the most recent attack as severe as it was.
