I can't believe it is Monday already! I am on Spring Break (actually a Spring pause) for one more day. We had two days taken from our break to make up for snow days. Yesterday I planted all of the flowers in the pots around our house. Today we are planting the garden and cutting the asparagus. I am finally feeling more like myself after the sinus infection and I will call today to get dates to start PT on my shoulder.

QOTD: You have been granted a lifetime supply of the last thing you bought online. What do you have a lot of now? I have a lot of Invisible Fence batteries. I bought them when Max joined us and believe me, we could use a lifetime supply.

Accountability: Good but not great. I ate too many carbs yesterday but I am not going to beat myself up over it. Changing my mindset is a full-time job. Everything in moderation.

TSS: 1 year and 3 months/weight 161 pounds

B: ham and egg

L: ham salad

D: ham with roasted asparagus and a spoonful of scalloped potatoes

100+ ounces of water or crystal light and all vitamins

But first, coffee.

Morning! I think our household is finally on the mend. We had one kid with a nasty cold, the other with Fifth's Disease (a rash illness with fever), then I had a fever for 5 straight days, and my husband had a nasty allergy flare up after cleaning the pollen/dust off our patio for the first time this year. I finally managed to get out and run 4 miles yesterday and it felt good, so I'm going to say I think I'm recovered. But, I still feel a bit congested this morning.

QOTD: The last thing I bought was a nut milk bag, haha. I made homemade yogurt and next time the nut milk bag will make it easier to strain, but I don't think I need a lifetime supply!

My Food:

  • Coffee w/ Cream x2
  • Homemade yogurt w/ Stevia, Vanilla, and cinnamon + 1oz of nuts
  • Garlic & Herb Marinated Salmon w/ Brussel Sprouts
  • Apple Chicken Sausage w/ Veggies
  • No idea on snacks today, I'm not well prepared and it's a miracle I meal prepped given the state of health in our house this past week.

I'll be doing a 40 minute run with a target heart rate of 140 today (my plan prescribes 4 days of HR running and 1 day with a specific distance).

Erin, question about your HR. Do you feel it's easy (and don't feel like you are actually exercising) if you keep it at 140? Is that rate for fat loss? I always have a HR monitor on when working out but unless it's above 165 I don't even feel like I'm exercising. And it gets that high only when I run on the treadmill above my comfortable speed and of course can't sustain it for more than 5-10 minutes.

I work with a run coach who is an exercise physiologist and she sets all my programming. The basic idea for any runner (including endurance runners and elite athletes) is that 80% of your runs should be "easy effort". My runs have targets heartrates of 135-155 depending on the day and duration. Then I have one day that's a "free run" where I can run at whatever pace I want, or choose to walk instead. Staying in the easy effort range limits your chance of injury.

I have a high heart rate with exercise probably for several reasons - prior obesity, having children, being a diabetic, etc. So, 135 is very simple for me - nothing more than a brisk walk feels like. 145-155 feels like a nice productive easy run. I can run at 165 and not feel highly taxed either.

I'm glad you and the family are feeling better. I use coffee filters to strain my yogurt.

Good morning folks! For those of you who celebrated Easter, I hope the Bunny brought carrots and not chocolate...! If not, it's a new day for a new focus.

It's Monday and I'm working from home today. I will take a break at lunch to take DW to the doctor but otherwise I'm going to try to get in a long and productive day. My trainer is on vacay this week so I won't have evening classes or workouts but one of my coworkers is a trainer and we'll do some early morning sessions in the gym at work. Their training styles are different so it will be fun to see how the workouts vary. I can learn alot.

Edited to add QOTD: I order ALOT of things online but I think the last thing to arrive was a box of thrift clothes from Swap.com! A lifetime supply of new clothes from Swap would be ideal!!! LOL! I'm such a clothes hog now! A lovely deep purple skirt and a couple of sleeveless blouses for work. I get paid today and will be placing an order for cat treats for the kids so a lifetime supply of those would be great too!

Accountability: I tried a Raw Rev Glo protein bar yesterday (they're my trainer's fave). About 5-10 minutes later, I was in PAIN! I checked the package again and they don't have any SAs (which is usually the culprit) but they have raw coconut, which kills me. Lots of fluids to wa**** out and I felt well enough to eat my sashimi later...yum!

Menu:

B: coffee thus far! Some ham in a bit.

S: cottage cheese w/ berries & slivered almonds

L: turkey breast, baby carrots

S: protein shake

D: pork chops & veg

Exercise: at least a walk with DW and hopefully a short run.

I read your breakfast really quick and thought you were having coffee with ham in it. Didn't sound that appetizing.
