At your pre-OP appointment, how far out did they schedule your surgery? I know it has to be 2 weeks out at least because of the pre OP diet, but curious what your wait times were. U have my pre OP on Friday!!

Have you finished all other requirement, from the insurance company and the surgeon? Clearances from PCP, cardiologist, maybe pulmonary, sleep study, psych eval, etc etc etc? There are many hoops.

After that, its a matter of the doc and hospit al having an opening at the same time.

Have you completed all your requirements, i.e. psychologist, etc and all your dietician meetings, etc. I've heard that with some, once your paperwork is submitted to insurance, it can be a several weeks kind of wait since most clinics won't schedule without insurance approval. They will schedule the surgery so you have sufficient time for the liver shrinking diet. My paperwork was submitted on a Tuesday and I had approval by Friday and a date 3 weeks in the future with surgeon appt. etc, pre op testing, the whole 9 yards. So it depends a lot on your particular clinic and whether you've been approved by insurance.

everything is done. Insurance approval is back. All that's left is the pre-op on Friday and to schedule

once my insurance approved me, they scheduled my surgery 2 1/2 weeks later...my pre-op appt was actually scheduled just one week prior to the surgery, so they scheduled the surgery first, then the pre-op appointment was mostly just going over the last basics of what to expect during the surgery and right after. just enough time for me to go shopping and get all my supplies and protein shakes for the liquid diet! I suppose it all depends on when your surgeon does their surgeries and what their schedule looks like, but it shouldn't be too long! good luck!
