What's on your Saturday Menu, RNYers?

Ahhh, all I can think now, is that is Ariel had discovered tacos she would have left the sea without any man involved!

I woke up feeling crappy and I am not sure why, exactly. I was exhausted yesterday and actually fell asleep on the couch at 8pm. My upper body felt achy all day which I thought was due to carrying my heavy laptop & lunch bag around, but may have been the start of another cold. I slept until 7am (unheard of!) and woke up with the sniffles. BOO! I don't have anything too pressing to do today, other than a hair appointment, though, so I will lay low.

Accountability: I was just awful yesterday. I had an additional small bag of trail mix during the day and then had a cafe style thin crust pizza for dinner. And now there are leftovers in the fridge!

QOTD: What is the worst weather event you have lived through? We have the remnants of Dorian here today, which is just rain so no big deal. For me, it has been some of the CRAZY Nor'Easters we have had. If you are not from New England--it is basically a hurricane mixed with a snow storm. The worst, of course, was in 2015 when we literally had a new Nor'Easter every weekend for 2 months. We had more snow than you could possibly imagine and the whole state was essentially shut down in places for weeks at a time. It was miserable.

I am having a hard time with MFP this morning. It won't let me onto the food page! So here is the plan:

B: Protein Coffee

S: 1 Costco Egg Bite

L: Thin crust pizza

S: Beef Stick

D: Breakfast for Dinner--Veggie & Bacon Omelette

Exercise: Hoping to get in at least 3 miles towards the 50 Mile Challenge!

Mornin' Weekenders!

I'm leaving for Davenport, IA in about an hour to meet up with my cousin. I'm really not wanting to go anywhere today, esp somewhere three hours away, but it should be fun to spend time with her. It's been a long time. I doubt I'll be back before 8:00 or 9:00 tonight. If I had my druthers, I'd just stay home and read today, but....well...maybe tomorrow.

accountability was great yesterday and my weight is down this morning. We had one of those Quest pizzas for dinner last night. I saw it at the store and was curious. It was OK. Not great, but OK. Something like 340 kcal in half a pizza, although the thing was pretty small. Even so, that was enough. More pizza than one could usually get at that calorie level. Also, the 28 g of protein you get with that portion was excellent.

QOTD: we get bad weather here in the Upper Midwest. No hurricanes or earthquakes, but we get tornadoes, frigid temps, big snowstorms, and flooding (the latter depending on where exactly you live). It's hard to pick just one because it seems like every other year we're hit with something. That polar vortex three or four winters ago - never got about 0 degrees F the whole month of January. We've also gotten some massive snowstorms even though we don't average as much snow here as you'd think (we got way more snow when I lived in northern Ohio - so it depends on which side of the Great Lakes you live on. I now live on the right side - or the wrong side, depending on your perspective. But still, we get the occasional doozy). We also had some massive flooding last summer - one man I knew vaguely was swept away by the flood current (and died) after trying to get out of his car. And last winter was awful. Not any one horrible event, but just day after day of either record cold or a snowstorm. Ugh. I hate to see winter coming again...

4 years 3 months out:

B: protein pancakes with plain Greek yogurt and some kind of homemade fruit compote, coffee with half & half

MS: probably nothing since I'll be having lunch out

L: meeting my cousin at a Thai place. I think I'll get the chicken satay appetizer and maybe some Thai crudites, whatever that is (it was on the appetizer menu - I'm guessing some cut-up raw veggies - maybe served with some kind of sauce? I'll ask...)

D: I'll almost certainly be on the road - so not sure, but I'll take a protein bar along with me just in case

ex: hopefully a lot of walking around in Davenport

have a great day, everyone!

Every time I hear about winters in the upper midwest I feel grateful for our nor'easters! Yikes!

Good Morning JB and Menu Friends,

JB, hope you are feeling better soon. Hoping you just need some rest and relaxation this weekend to recharge for next week.

Dh and I ran errands last night and we are preparing to close the pool this morning. I am hoping for a quiet and restful weekend after that. The first week of school is so tiring. I am so glad we did meal prep on Labor Day because it really helped this week. I am planning on doing more prep tomorrow.

Accountability: I was so much better yesterday but there is still room for improvement. I really want to start lowering my carbs this week along with walking and drinking more water. I read the post about regaining after 18 months and I realize that I am probably at my lowest weight but do not want to gain anymore. I need to get back to what I was doing before summer break began and be more vigilant.

QOTD: I think the worst weather was either hurricane Floyd or the back to back blizzards we had over 10 years ago. Schools were closed for over a week and I was living alone at the time.

I haven't tried MFP this morning but will log in later.

B: egg and cantaloupe

L: tuna pouch with mini peppers

D: probably out since I am determined to go shoe shopping this afternoon.

80+ ounces of water

Have a great Saturday!

I find that routine of being at work is generally much better than time off, so hopefully you can get into great habits to start of the school year, now and stick with it!

Good morning, everybody!

I was supposed to wake Marilyn up at 7:00 and I woke her up at 6:00 by mistake. And to make it worse, even 7:00 was probably earlier than she needed to be up because she didn't leave the house until 7:45. She did get in a nap at around 6:45 - 7:30, though.

I had fun at the football game last night, although my co-worker's son did not get onto the field. Also, 12 rounds plus 5 extra pull-ups of Cindy last night, I was happy about that.

Today I have to go to Nordstrom to pick up alterations. I think that I first tried these pants on in July and then they got lost, and then I had to get them re-measured. I am just going to sneak in and pick them up without making an appointment as I want to spend as little time in the mall as possible.

I am also going to try a new tailor today for some alterations of on-line purchases. My suit coat sleeves always need to be tailored because my left arm is shorter than my right by about a half an inch.

Tonight is Cheap Trick and ZZ Top.

QOTD: Probably the Blizzard of 1978 in Boston, although the last few polar vortex's in Chicago have not been fun either. In 1985, when I was in college, we were supposed to to have Hurricane Gloria. They shut down school and passed out masking tape to all of the kids to cover their dorm room windows with X's. At which point, many of the boys used the rolls of masking tape to spell out "BLOW ME GLORIA" on their windows. The storm dissipated before it got to Massachusetts.

Breakfast: Turkey meatballs and cottage cheese

Snack: Protein Bar

Lunch: Brisket

Snack: Jerky

Dinner: Concert food

Have a great day, all!

I have strong memories of both of those storms! In 78 we lived about 40 miles west of Boston and it was nothing short of a miracle that my dad made it home that night. We ended up taking in a stranded person who stayed with us for a few days. He used to send me Easter Baskets for the next decade!

And Gloria--ha what a joke! I was in HS and a generally pissy child who was always fighting with my mom... she and I drove to Binghamton to escape it's "wrath" and literally nothing happened, except for the hurricane of fights we had for 7 hours each way in the car!

Good morning~ I hope you feel better, JB. The magic of a hair/chair time may be exactly what you need. Today we are taking to the dogs to the park. Then I have some errands to run, followed by swimming and a hydro massage - can't wait! Then a movie with my son TBD, the pork roast I meant to make yesterday in the instant pot and probably some netflix tonight.

QOTD - nothing in particular I can think of, but New England weather has it - hands down. I learned to drive in winter there and I remember freaking out cuz it was never ending and scary!

Accountability - switched out dinner cuz the pork didn't make it - still on plan

Exercise - swimming at least 1200 meters and walking 2.5 miles

Good morning everyone. I woke up with swollen eyes and a headache. My friend passed away yesterday and I cried a lot last night. Even though you know it is going to happen and they are no longer suffering it is still hard. I am just really going to miss her and her Scottish humor and her kind soul.

On to brighter news, my daughter is home for a week and she is done working Graveyard. She is taking a week off before she starts her new job and I get her all to myself!! Her husband is in the National Guard and he is gone for 3 weeks of training. We are planning on doing some hikes this week, shop and hair appointment this Friday.

Both my kids were home last night and it was wonderful having the 4 of us together again. We sat outside on the pergola listening to the crickets, talking and laughing. These are the days that I treasure.

QOTD- Winter of 2015, lots of freezing rain. We literally were stuck, both freeways were closed and we had no electricity. Thankful for wood heat and cooking on the woodstove. We were the first to get out electricity back, so I delivered hot soup in glass quart jars to my seniors in our 4x4 truck.

Accountability- I am eating too much!! I just feel hungry all the time. I know it is hormonal and emotional. I need to break up with cheese..Its just not worth the calories. I think I am going to go back to 3 meals, no snacks and as low carb as possilbe. I am maintaining my weight fairly well, but I need to lose another 25 lbs. I am almost 3 years out.

Food plan for today-

2 cups black coffee

1 egg, 3 oz Boars Head Pepperino garlic ham

1 can albacore Tuna with onion, pickles and light mayo

Grilled halibut with asparagus

Lots of water, I feel puffy. Its humid and yucky out. Have a great day everyone. I am headed out for my walk with Josie.
