Hi Sheila. I am going for my ultrasound on Tuesday morning. How long was it between the time that you were diagnosed and surgery? Do the attacks become more frequent? If it is gall bladder I am hoping it can wait until after the holidays, but I'm not sure how that works.

Do you know when you can resume running?

I had the ultrasound in Oct. The delay was to meet the PCP, because surgery wouldn't take me directly. When my PCP referred to surgery I met with them in a span of 2-3 days. And when I realized I can actually do it with my RNY surgeon it was just a hospital scheduling issue. Dec 11 is the first available spot.
The doc said it's only a 45 minutes surgery, almost out patient and no over night stay.
I haven't had any attacks since my time in ER, back in early September. But the doc said my stones are about 1 cm large.
No idea about how long after surgery I can go back to running, as of right now I'm doing my routine with no pain or side effects.
If I get any more info I'll share with you.

I know others have had different experiences, but my gallbladder surgery was super easy. My B went bad at about the 8 month mark. I had an ultrasound the same day as my doctor visit (I went to see my surgeon), he called me at 6 that night to tell me I had stones and his scheduler called me the next day. I had my surgery within 2 weeks of diagnosis. I had it on a Friday, surgery at 8:30 I was discharged at 12:30, went to a mani/pedi appt on Saturday and was on a plane for work on Tuesday. At the time I was training for my first 1/2 marathon (surgery was first week of February, 1/2 was Mother's Day weekend) and he made me wait 10 days to start wogging (TM Sheila) and then I could run as tolerated.

That's great. I sure don't anything to mess with my wogging schedule. It's always hard to get back into the routine.

That is a relief to hear, thanks Stacy. I suspect I am headed for the surgery as well.

Sheila, I don't know how you're doing liquids the way you are. I've been on full liquids for a month know and am (1) ALWAYS hungry and (2) ready to gnaw off my arm. You are truly an inspiring mentor!

You are so sweet!
1) the fact that I am doing it for somebody else keeps me more responsible. You know, like when you run a race for somebody?
2) Miso soup is my life saver.
4****d coffee & protein powders keep me busy
4) I started all this with a deadline of 8 days. I don't think I can do it past Sun night.

It is HARD, and my hat is off to you for doing it for a whole month.
