You don't need to eat the same food you ate at 3 weeks out--you can't stay on liquids forever.

I just pulled up a menu from when I was 3 months out, and this is what I had:

B: Coffee, Egg Beaters & Shredded Cheese

S: 1/2 c Cottage Cheese

L: 3 oz Sliced Turkey Breast

S: 1 Original Babybel Cheese

D: 3 oz Grilled Chicken & Roasted Peppers

Totals: 616 calories / 69g Protein / 36 carbs

  • High Weight before LapBand: 200 (2008)
  • High Weight before RNY: 160 (2015)
  • Lowest post-op weight: 110 (2016)
  • Maintenance Weight: 120 (2017-2019)
  • Battling Regain Weight: 135 (current)

A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat.

A pound of anything weighs the same as a pound of anything else. Volume and dimension to make up the pound vary but 16 oz is 16 oz.

Strength training stresses muscles, which require additional fluids to repair the minor damage strength training causes. The weight gain is from that extra fluid retention.

I am sorry if I missed your surgery date ? Looks as though you are a few months out from reading other posts?

you have received some great advice on previous posts regarding your food plan.

regarding strength training - I would recommend you concentrate on light cardio and take full advantage of your honeymoon period. My appetite increased when I added strength training to my routine ( 9-12 months post op if my memory serves me correctly). I realize everyone is different, but the added fuel/hunger seems to be a trend among those who do strength training.

Be patient and take advantage of the first year to lose every pound you can. You will have plenty of time to add muscle and tone.

What is going on medically at this point? I feel like I need to understand that before I give any further response because it doesn't seem like the normal responses are giving you the results one would expect and I am seeing some frustration on both sides.
