New But Old......

Hello,

I just wanted to start by saying that i had a profile on OH years ago when i first started my journey,I basically lived on here and was on ever forum possible trying to learn as much as i can and do as much research as possible. I originally had surgery 3/13/12 and i had a sleeve. The day of my surgery i was 455.3 pounds fast forward to 2020 and the lowest weight that ive gotten down too was 306. I'm currently weigh 319 and i'm ok with that although i never did hit my goal of 230 i'm very proud of all the progress that I've made...So you might wonder what brings me back to OH,Well i'm scheduled to have Revision of sleeve to bypass on 2/12/20 because of GERD with no relief from medication. Initial i wasn't sure if i wanted too but i can't deal with this flare up from the gerd,I'm nervous and excited to be on the loser bench again. My surgeon already told that i wont lose the same amount of weight that i initial did and i'm okay with that ,Just as long as this GERD goes away and i get under 300 pounds i'll be happy. Overall I've had a textbook surgery and recovery and i pray for the same thing this time around. So now i'm just counting down the days until my surgery day which is right around the corner.

Welcome back and good luck on this stage of your journey. It is great that you are "getting back in the game" before your surgery so you'll be ready to go after.

Thank You, I've always maintained my eating healthy because I still have great restriction even after this time.

I had a revision due to GERD this summer and was also told that weight loss would be slower. (I had a fair bit of regain at that point.) However, I've worked my tool really hard, stuck to my diet plan, and now I'm only about 10lb away from my original lowest weight. You can absolutely do it if you stick with your plan and stay consistent!

Yes i'm actually nervous and excited but my surgeon said that he knows that it will help me especially since the medication hasn't been helping and that's what' i'm really looking forward too...I have about another 50-75 pounds that I want to lose.

This is a good place to visit for us WLS people. My RNY was in 2008 and I've maintained my loss except for a few lbs. of regain.

Best wishes to you for your upcoming surgery. GERD is awful. I had it before RNY but not severe and I don't have it any more.

Yes it is ,I would have to agree. I had slight acid reflux before my surgery but my surgeon had pre warned me that it was going to be a 20% chance that I would developed GERD but after 7 1/2 years I thought I was fine until recently.

Hi and welcome back. I too came back after having regain and I can say I am not disappointed one bit. I am sorry you have had issues with your sleeve but it is great that you can get a revision. Im slowly losing my regain with tracking and planning as well as determination so I think that if you can apply yourself after your revision you might lose more than your surgeon stated. It is all up to us that is for sure. Best of luck to you and wishing you a quick recovery.
