I take a prescription iron pill. What is the best way to take it? I can't find my instructions. For some reason I think i can't eat for hours before or after. But, my memory....it's Ferrex 150 if that matters

I know calcium and iron should not be taken together. I believe a few hours at least between the two. As for eating I don't think there are any restrictions on if you can or cannot eat when taking iron. Alcohol and caffeine I think also can affect the absorption of iron.

Take Iron at least 3 hours before or after Calcium. Do not take it with tea or coffee. The tannins interfere with absorption. Don't take it within 2 hours of any antacids.

You can take it with food to avoid stomach upset.

I take my iron pills first thing in the morning with a large glass of water, eat about 30 minutes later and then a few hours later take my multivitamin and my calcium chew, then eat my lunch, then a few hours later have another calcium chew
