I think working from home is a reasonable accommodation in these cir****tances. Having to take your daughter to sitter is not really social distancing. I realize not everyone is in NY like I am but it is just stick to those in immediate household, and even then social distance as much as possible.

what is your IG name? I will look you up. I am @peaceloveplanks

Mornin' All!

it's finally sunny out after an on-again off-again stormy weekend, so a long walk is definitely in order. Plus I really want to be outside!

not much going on. I've been really bummed about John Prine since last night - and even more bummed thinking he's probably the first of many (he hasn't died - yet - but he's critically ill with COVID-19). Then I listened to NPR's "On Point" this morning where they were talking about coronavirus in India - which of course could be absolutely catastrophic for them (well, more catastrophic than it is for the developed world, that is). So I'm not feeling too positive at the moment. Boy - who would have ever anticipated something like this even four or five months ago??

other than walk, I'll probably do weights today and go over to the store to buy more coffee, which I forgot to pick up during our grocery store run yesterday. Maybe I'll start a jigsaw puzzle or something, too. I'm really going stir crazy.

QOTD: currently, none. I"m still in the night shirt that I sleep in. Back when life was normal, I used to wear leggings almost every day. Now it's mostly jeans or yoga pants - that is, when I'm wearing pants at all.

4 years 9 months out:

B: 1/2 C protein oatmeal with 1 C chocolate "mousse" (cottage cheese whipped with protein powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, Splenda, and enough unsweetened cashew milk to get it going in the blender). Topped with 2 T light Cool Whip and raspberries (way more calories than I normally eat for breakfast, but I didn't eat until 10:00, and there were 60 grams of protein in this - should last me until mid-afternoon, at least...)

L: will probably eat much later than usual, given breakfast... Anyway, the other half of my Beyond Burger on "sandwich skinny" bun

AS: probably nothing

D: chili

have another great day being trapped in your house, all!!!

I am really worried about India too :( I read an article that hundreds of thousands of people have left the cities to go back to their villages. After seeing many cities in India, I am pretty sure that the US does not have the highest number of cases, I am sure India does, but they have no testing. It's going to be catastrophic. I am definitely worried about the developing countries. We are so spoiled in comparison, even with the issues we have...

My son lives in New Dehli, the largest city, and I promise you they are more worried about NY. They closed the schools in New Dehli at beginning of March as soon as there was one case. Wearing masks is more the norm there as in China. They are on lockdown which is taken way more seriously than here. They have had international travel banned for several weeks already- Anyone getting permission to come in was getting a stamp on their arm and they had to self quarantine for 14 days. If they did not they would be arrested.
India has been very proactive recognizing that there are many challenges.

One of my colleagues mentioned that they take the 14 day quarantine after travel very serious - ie, someone is coming to check that you have not left quarantine. When I talk about how it's just a recommendation in many of the cities here and that in very few places are they checking that you are allowed out, they are shocked...and with our HQ being in Florida they are very very puzzled that each county got to decide if it was closing it's beaches.

Do not even get me started on Florida.
My daughter-from-another-mother who lives in Tampa area- her husband decided to go to one of those church services that was in the news. I told her you tell him if he wants to pull that crap he can go live somewhere else for the rest of the quarantine. Then he can call me and I will set his 40 year old ass straight and then he can call his cousin who is a nurse in NY and see what she has to say. This is not a drill. #stayhome

I was just looking at one of those bar graphs of different countries and saw that India's cases were so low. I was totally impressed... not sure why it didn't occur to me that they probably don't even have the infrastructure for testing and it's probably not true. Hope I am wrong :(
