Happy Hump Day, my friends! How was yesterday? I had a pretty good day--good mix of meetings and work time and I felt like I got a lot of big things knocked off my to-do list. Yay! I really think I have found a good WFH rhythm and I finally can say that I think I prefer it rather than going to the office.

Yesterday, I had a zoom meeting with someone who I work very closely with who has been sick with the virus for two weeks. It was so good to see him looking okay. He is a year younger than me, and very healthy, and says he has been knocked out cold with it--awful trouble breathing and 10 days straight of the worst GI issues he could imagine. He thinks he is climbing out the other side, but he said its been terrible.

Accountability: For some unknown reason I snacked on the most tasteless, boring and unneeded source of carbs imaginable--animal crackers.... why? I also had a bowl of homemade popcorn after dinner. The rest of the day was on track.

To the new WW recruits, I am on the Blue Plan. I get 23 points a day, and the zero point foods are: fruits, veggies, lean meats, and some legumes. The plan definitely rewards you for low fat versions of dairy/cheeses, which is the exact opposite of Keto.

I have been trying to keep my daily points really low because let's face it--Ive been adding in a lot of extras. So my "strategy" is to plan for low point meals so when I add in animal crackers or something stupid, I have a little cushion. I know I should stop planning to cheat, but I am just living my best quarantine life here, and being honest about what I can handle right now...

Morning. Yesterday turned out to be a pretty **** day. The day before yesterday I had the issue that I needed to add to my Walmart delivery order but in the time between setting the initial one and then my credit card had been compromised (some person bought a $12.99 monthly subscription to Amazon Prime on it!). Walmart won't let you change your payment method mid-stream, but I lucked out and was able to cancel my order and then immediately grab the same time slot back and put all the groceries on that new order with the new card information.

Fast forward to yesterday and I got an 'Out for delivery' message at 4:50pm. Then the tracking proceeded to show a car sitting a couple miles from our house and not moving for 45+ minutes. Finally, around 5:50 I got email saying there was a problem with my delivery and I needed to call customer service to either cancel or reschedule it and my tracking simply disappeared. I called customer service and waited on hold for 20 minutes only to have the woman hang up on me after I gave her my name and a description of the issue. I called back again and waited 25 minutes on hold and the guy seemed to have no idea what happened. He tried multiple times to call the store and was unable to get anyone in the right department to pick-up the phone. He filed a complaint on my behalf and said a supervisor would call me - they never did. Then at 7:50 last night (store closes at 8) I got an email saying there were out of stock items on my order, like they had just picked it all. Of course it wasn't delivered and I have no idea when it will be. I can't cancel it anymore from the website, and it's still showing a delivery date of last night. So, I have no idea if I should just plan to shop for them or wait it out? To make matters worse tomorrow is mine and Kid #1's birthday and that order had some things for me to make her the pie she requested.

Oh no, that sucks! I have heard so many really similar stories about grocery delivery lately. It seems like people re either getting it 100% perfect or 100% wrong.

If there is birthday pie involved--go shopping! ..but maybe that's just me, haha.

I ended up calling customer service again this morning to cancel my order, which was a big of a cluster because they originally didn't want to cancel it because it had already been "picked" but also were unwilling to give me a new delivery date.

I went shopping around 9am and it was super dead, so it turned out not to be too bad all. The only things I couldn't manage to find were cauliflower and canned pumpkin.

I am doing my own shopping once a week with mask during super quiet hours because having my order get screwed up and not being able to make my own substitutions would make me really crazy. Also because I feel like having 1-2 middle-men is more risky than going quickly through the store avoiding people myself.

To each their own. I was doing grocery delivery before this all began. I hadn't grocery shopped since 2019 in fact. I work full time, have two kids, and go to school full time. There's not a lot of time in my day to hit the quiet parts of the day when they don't open until 8am and close at 7pm.

I hope you don't think I was criticizing you! Absolutely it makes sense for you and many. I like to shop and am used to having to defend going to my DS. I'm sorry it has gotten so frustrating and complicated though. We were talking about it during an online Zoom coffee hour this morning and a lot of the people here in Florida are having issues getting times and getting what they want. But one friend in Iowa says it is easy, quick and she gets pretty much everything there. In fact she said she may continue to shop this way after the current crisis because she hates shopping.

I know you didn't mean as a criticism! I think I'm being overly defensive though because I'm pretty well sick of people having an opinion about everything under the sun. Our neighborhood, which normally is great, have been so critical of people who shop (why go out when you don't have to?!), people who don't shop (you're putting the delivery people at risk!), people who walk/run in pairs (solo exercise only!), people who stand 10' apart and have a conversation on the sidewalk (social distancing doesn't mean you can get together outside!), people who don't wear masks outside while walking (it protects everyone when you ALWAYS wear a mask!), people who wear their masks in their car alone (who do they think they are protecting?!). You literally can do nothing right currently.

My shopping experience this morning ended up being really good. The store was dead (which is unheard of for our area!) and I found everything but canned pumpkin and cauliflower.

It is frustrating - I read a great quote recently on FB - " Wow , all of the people that were once Constitutional Experts are now Infectious Disease Experts as well"

You are Lucky to have options, In the good Old North Country there are few and far between, so a shopping we do go!
