Good morning! It's sunny here and should not be too hot. Woo hoo. Not a lot planned today other than Costco and the grocery store. Oh and cleaning up a desk. I'm itching for a work station at home to organize my stuff. I keep just about everything at my office, but as I am trying to envision transitioning to retirement, I'd like a space. I was trying to get my husband to help me convert part of the laundry room when he offered his desk area, saying he never uses it. It just needs a bit of clean out and organizing. That should work just fine for me.

A long time ago, my parents and neighbors bowled together. The neighbor told my Dad to show some guy they bowled with a picture of me. My dad showed him and he said "I'm going to marry that girl." And he did. We celebrate 40 years this December.

That is such a great story. My dad was from Ireland. When I was about 18, he started bringing home Irish guys to dinner to meet me. Once I caught on, I would have dinner somewhere else. They did not appeal to me at all with the red hair, freckles, and Irish brogue.

My husband was Italian, so complete opposite in looks. Now that I am old, my boyfriend is Irish, but was raised in the United States so no Irish brogue. My sister married an Irishman from Ireland.

I have a lot of friends where one was Irish and their partner was Italian. Opposites attract?

When you are young you think you are rebelling by marrying each other. But as you mature, you realize that you both come from strong Catholic backgrounds and the fundamental beliefs are the same.

People of Polish descent also are very similar to Catholic and Italian family values, so marriages between them also tend to work out.

English and German often make good matches if both have similar Protestant backgrounds. That religion, even if you don't go to any church, is what keeps many couples together through the tough times in a marriage.
