Candy Cane Deformity

Hi, have any of you RNY'ers heard of this or experienced it? I'm nearly 20 years post-op and have had increasing abdominal pain at various times of day. My past pcm usually just recommended an antacid and called it good. My new Dr.has actually been trying to get at the cause of it. So far I've had an upper endoscopy and recently a barium-swallow UGI test. The results said "...candy cane deformity with pancreaticobiliary limb reflux" and also "...small sliding esophageal hiatal hernia."

So one of the information sites regarding this said the care route is dietary/ha*****anges, using omeprazole or ppi's. If those don't help there is an endoscopy procedure or finally a surgical option. I'm already using omeprazole with slight improvement.

As there are more and more people with bypasses they see more of this deformity/syndrome

I'd never heard of it before, how about you?

Thank you for the link, I'll go read it. Life has been so busy that I kept forgetting to come back and check this post. I got another communication from the surgeon's office saying if it keeps bothering me even after a trial of Omeprazole then it will be time to schedule a consult with the surgeon.
