Medicare does not pre-authorize coverage for my RNY.
I have gap insurance.
My advocate (of many years) said "don't worry...be happy"
I had the operation on 8/28/2013.

Here is some more info:
- I have already had the psych eval and the surgery
- My program sent me to the psych. She is in the same building as my surgeon.
- My psych does not accept any insurance...none. Her charge is $500.00 with a $140.00 discount = $360.00.
- I had to pay before the eval.
- I am happy but would like to be reimbursed every nickel for which I am entitled.

Nothing goes as planned. Not to worry.
I was lucky. My wife and granddaughter stayed with me in the hospital for the 2 nights.
I was pretty doped up on the pain killers. However did not have much pain.

Does Medicare cover the psych charges.
My psych does not bill insurance. She charges the patient and it is up to the patient to file a claim with their insurance.

My preop diet days were tough.
I was able to cook my wife omeletes while had protein shakes.
I was also able to take my wife to breakfast while I had a cup of decaf and read the paper.
Over time it seemed easier.

I was given Carafate to protect my new pouch seam because the cardio Dr wanted me on aspirin.
I take it 10 minutes before meals. Seems like the food has a harder time going down since I'm on the Carafate. Is this normal?

I had a RNY on 8/28. Dr Kim told my wife everything went well.
In the prep room they gave me a shot and I felt groggy.
In the operating room they asked me to scoot onto the operating table which I did without a problem. There was table extentions for my arms. At this point they knocked me out for a really good sleep.
When I woke up I had a morphine pump. I do not remember any pain.
I was given a script for pain pills prior to surgery but I have not used any.
In my program there are a lot of rules to follow. Adjusting to all the new rules is challenging for me....but I must follow them.

Started at 314. Today I am 287. My F/U appt is later today.
A-fib stopped and back to normal rhythm...knock wood.
My RNY was 8/28. I got a-fib on Labor Day. I have to make a trip to my fishing shack to make repairs. Going to take it slow for sure.
