A heated humidifier also helps to reduce nasal and throat dryness.

Some insurance companies replace your mask, tubes, etc every 3 months. I will definitely take advantage of this. Ericka

Vivian, you may need a different kind of mask. Please give it a try. Sleep Apnea is very serious. I went for years untreated after my initial diagnosis. I was diagnosed as mild with a titration of 7. I am currently severe with a titration of 16. I had to take it seriously after falling asleep behind the wheel and at work; after having years of poor job performance; and, after not being able to enjoy my husband and a social life due to fatigue. You may need a different mask. Keep working with your sleep specialist until you find what works for you. I have the Breeze mask and it is the most comfortable one I've had thus far. If you can stand the nasal pillows, it is less strappy and frees your face from irritation. Just don't give up on it. You owe it to yourself. It takes time to get used to it. You just have to decide how important it is to you. Feel free to email me if you want to discuss it further. Ericka

Hi. I went for a sleep study in December.. I have severe apnea..(stopped breathing 48 times in one hour) or, so I'm told. They couldn't get a good reading as I kept ripping the darn mask off my face... So, now they lent me a machine that registers what setting I need. Well,, after three weeks along with a presciption for Ambien so I could leave the mask on my face.. I am still ripping the God Forsaken thing off my face. What next???!!! Getting frustrated. vivian

Ed, I could never get to feel better so iI dont use the machine anymore . iI always got sinus infections when I used it. Probably not the best for me but I suffer less without it. Steve

Topic: self pay sleep study
HI, I have not had wls surgery yet hopefully in the next few weeks. I had to have a sleep study done and I am a self pay . I have not recieved the bill yet and am very anxious they told me @2ooo.oo. So far i have paid a bill for the Doctor 550. to review the test ( even though i didn't sleep during it). I recieved another bill for 250. to go in to her (the dr)to get the results which were not good because i did not sleep. however. i do have apnea. So i am now the proud renter of an auto pap machine to the tune of 420. plus the head gear and mask which is another 200. The rent monthly is 159. oh and the origianl head gear did not work for me so i just today went and spent another 2oo, on face mask head gear and the old head gear which iwore for less than 16 hrs is not returnable so its like throwing 200. in the garbage ugh I am not rich and have to pay all this back i took out a loan I think this is highway robbery any suggestions

Topic: RE: Did I "break" my machine?
Karen. I knocked mine off the stand once also and I took it in not because I heard any changes or anything...but the place is just down the street from my home and I thought it a good idea to bring it in to be checked. The tech said he was glad I did even though he found everything in order. Told me the calibrations can get knocked out of wack with a jolt. So I suggest you call and make appt. to get it in and get it back right away. Mine was set at the begining to 15 but after 55 pound weight loss I was retested and it was re-set at 6... I go for re-test again next month. Dr told me after last one if I lost another 20 pounds I may be able to sleep without the c-pap. I have gotten rid of another 20 and will have more by re test date. I have gotten used to it and it does not disturb my sleep but it would be nice to to be Hooked Up when sleeping.
