When I wake I have an uncomfortable stomach. It feels like I'm really hungry kinda of pain.  I take my acid pill wait the half hour then have an egg or cheese of something and feel better.  I am now noticing it in the evening and it makes me think I'm hungry maybe I should have some protein or something, but we shouldn't feel hunger like that anymore so I'm told.  I wonder if its Phantom hunger.  You know like someone who loses an arm or something, but with me its half of my stomach.
It isn't head hunger as it is a physical discomfort.  I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this.  I had my surgery 5 weeks ago and maybe I need to have the acid stuff again in the evening I just don't know.
My doctor is away on holiday so I can't ask him.
any feedback appreciated.

I am almost 6 months post-op and I do occasionally get physical hunger pains.  They are easily satisfied with a small amount of food but they are still there.  I'm not sure why some people think we never feel hungry again because we do.  It's just not a strong as pre-op.

One thing I have learned is that if I do feel hungry I need to eat something solid.  It's almost like my stomach is saying "I need something to work on" so that is when I reach for a piece of Beef Jerky.  A few small pieces will keep me satisfied for hours.  The other thing I notice is that I get hungry earlier (about 1 hour later) after eating soft or liquid stuff.  If I eat meat or something more solid it takes longer to work through my stomach and I can go 2-3 hours and not be hungry.

I had a similar feeling, kinda a hollow empty nawing?  Mine was acid.  Are you taking a acid reducer or proton pump inhibitor?  I take a Protonix (1 40 mg) before bedtime.  My surgeon prescribed it right after surgery, I had it IV in the hospital.  I have found I cannot eat anything solid and then lay down.  I need to wait 1-2 hours.  Acid can  also cause nausea.   There are  may who take OTC Prilosec.  Some folks don't need the acid reducers, some do. I tried stopping my med at about 6 months and my system was not ready, within 5 days I had pain in my esophugus, and was refluxing at night.

I feel the same way you do and I am 4 weeks post. I usually get a drink of water or fuze(low carb drink) or a popsicle. cause I don't eat well now after surgery.  I forgot my protonix this a.m. and I am paying for it now.
