Did anyone have to take injections to avoid blodclots post op
Sounds like everyone's surgeons have different ideas about this. I'll have to start with one shot tomorrow night (night before surgery) and twice a day after for 6 days.
I'm not excited about it either but it's to avoid a bloodclot which may travel and kill you. So yeah, it's gonna be hard to do at first... but it's worth it.

I double checked with my doctor not to long ago about it.
I will have one shot right after surgery since I will be having some machine dealing with clots while in surgery.
But he said one and only one. Since I will be up walking so much. He also is doing this cause of my over worked fear of needles, I freak out. So they gas me to inject me before surgery cause if I see a needle it wont be pretty.

I have to take Lovenox every day for 30 days. Anyone in my surgeon's practice with a BMI of >50 has to do this. Otherwise, he only gives them in the hospital and *poof* they're done.
I don't like it, but I do it. I'm 11 days in @ home. I'm getting used to shooting myself in the belly, but not liking the array of bruises on my belly as a result!
Hang in there! =)
