so whats the healthiest and best tasting cheese?
me too... I'm to understand cheddar cheese is the best for us.... for convenience I plan to get the cracker barrell reddi cut brick for the office... my daughter had unbelievele success with eating two slices of chicken breast and 1 or 2 slices of cheddar cheese and a few almonds for lunch... so that will be my path in two weeks... I have already tried eating cheese (cheddar) and I chew it well and it goes goes well and fills me up... hope it works for you...
Taste in cheese is quite an individual thing. American cheese is by far the least healthy, drier cheeses are lower in fat. But we VSG-ers eat so little I do not believe we need worry about the fats so much. We need fat to have healthy nails, skin and hair. When I was watching my fat content my nails and skin started looking terrible. I now ignore fat content and try to eat things that are healthful and taste good. I eat bleu cheese on steak, really tastes good and ups the protein. Also helps it go down. I eat several different cheeses in my roll ups. I take a slice of roast beef, turkey, whatever lunch meat I have and roll it up with my cheese and eat for lunch. I like the pepper jack or Havarti the best for these. I mix cream cheese, cottage cheese and fruit together for a treat. I have 4 different cheese sticks I buy. Pepper jack, sharp cheddar, medium cheddar and mozzarella. Eat what you enjoy.

Oh, I heart cheese so much I can't imagine life without it LOL... lately I've been buying the bags of cheese cubes from Kraft in cheddar, monterey jack and colby varieties. I use the American cheese slices and put shredded cheese in or on sooooo much stuff! As long as it fits into my daily calorie allotment I'm good with it. I don't pay attention to the fat content either, since I think the "low fat" craze is what helped get so many of us fat in the first place.

yes i bought the colby by kraft its low fat, pretty good stuff
That a hard question. The variations in each cheese type will have different calories, protein, additives and fat content. Even the same type can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. It really comes down to your taste buds, what protein you want to include and what your tummy can tolerate. The only type I would be wary of is the processed cheeses such as canned, in a jar or velvetta.
I agree with Stacy and Summer and choose to ignore the fat content. There are probably a dozen varieties in my fridge right now. I
cheese and eat it 2 to 3 x a day.

I'm an avid cheese lover, and love many.
For convenience, I keep the Cracker Barrel 2% sharp cheddar on hand that are individually wrapped. Perfect snack, perfect taste, perfect consistency.
I love Muenster and Havarti both higher in fat, but so yummy. You can sometimes find reduced fat versions of both of these in specialty or higher end grocery stores. I don't/didn't really count fat grams since I consume so little.
The only swiss cheese I like is the Laughing cow varieties.
Baked brie is unbelievably delicious.
Parmesan, Asiago are great for making "cheese chips" by baking fresh grated parmesan or asiago in the oven. It gives us a nice alternative to chips or crackers with a great crunch once you get to that stage.
Provolone, Pepperjack, some sharp cheddars and other "deli" cheese I reserve for grilled cheese sandwiches.
