what about quiche?

Since I have to eat eggs I was wondering how people felt about quiche. I am in my third week and on semi solid foods i.e soft fish mashed potatoes, very mushy vegatables etc. Has anyone tried quiche? Costco makes a box of single bite size mini quiches and I want to take them to work for those days when I dont have time to prepare breakfast

your thoughts?

I have eaten quiche quite often. Go for it. Read the ingredients on pre made stuff like that carefully though.

Quiche is not terribly difficult to make ahead of time at home.  Ham, cheese, spinach, etc.  Bascially anything you want.  You can also oil your pan well and go crust-free, reducing the carb count to virtually zero.  Can be reheated or served cold.

Current weight: 170 lbs.

Once I reach goal, this cow will be killed & eaten... 2 ounces at a time.

Total includes 56 lbs. lost on 2-month low carb pre-op diet.  Start date 9/13/10.

I've eaten a lot of crustless quiche.  I also buy the quiches from Trader Joe's ... they will come right out of their crust if you microwave them for about 3 minutes.  Yum.

I love those little quiches!  I think the brand is "Nancy's petite quiches".  I have usually eaten six at time, I guess after surgery it will be one!   Sam's Club, Super Targets, some Wal-Marts, and Costco have them.

I love quiche - you might try making it with a low carb crumb crust - I mix crushed fiber one cereal (the original one with no sugar or flavorings) with almond meal, some ground flax seed, and a bit of melted butter and water, plus salt and pepper to taste - then press it into the pie pan before pouring in the egg filling and baking. Yummy crunchy goodness, without all of the white flour from regular pastry dough.

Egg face has some great recipes for various quiches! There is also a really good South Beach recipe I bet you could google. If you get a mini cupcake pan it would be easy to make a bunch of them... then just freeze individually to grab. Thats what I plan on doing when I'm on mushies!

those costco quiches are great but i bet they have a lot of carbs and calories. might be better to try a crustless quiche like the egg bites on the eggface website. keep the carbs and calories down. been meaning to make some . maybe today! D

made the crustless quiche last night
5 eggs, 1 cup lowfat cheese, 4 slices of turkey bacon, 1/2 onion, 1 tsp italian seasoning, 1 sliver of a red bell pepper, mixed it all up and baked for 20 mins. I kinda overcooked them but they taste pretty good for a quick snack in the morning before my protein drink...looking to put together a menu for when i return to work any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks
