American Heart Association and Bariatric Surgery

The AHA has issued a report about heart disease and obesity.  AHA is recommending physicians refer obese people for bariatic surgery.  I am excited about this because I think this will encourage more insurance companies to pay for treatment.  [email protected]   Check it out.

 This is great because it's one more move toward the general public understanding that obesity isn't about someone just being lazy and unmotivated.  Think about how people used to think alcoholics were simply lazy, weak-willed people.  Now we understand that it's a disease.  I hope in our lifetimes people will see obesity as something other than just a character flaw!
