Hello, everyone. I know it's been a while and I'll make this quick. My highest weight ever was 565 lbs. I was 530 when I started my pre-op diet for the surgery and 499 when I checked out of the hospital a day after my surgery.

I'm currently 432 lbs. That's AMAZING to me. Even still, the idea of that I still need to lose AT least 233 to get to my goal (at or just under 200lbs, or "onederland") can get pretty overwhelming sometimes.

People my size are in it for the long haul and I want us to support and be there for each other. If you have over 200 lbs to lose, connect with me here, on twitter - http://twitter.com/willufight4life or on my blog, http://www.fight4yourlifeonline.org.

I look forward to hearing from you.

how do you eat an elephant?    one bite at a time...

sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming if we constantly look at the "big picture" -  yeah, it's a lot of weight to lose, but if you create phases that are smaller and easier contemplate, it may help keep you from panicking...

i have a series of mini-goals it can help keep you focused...  (my next one is onederland)

good luck to you!!!

I think my next goal will be to lose 100lbs. After that, it will be to get under 400! Thanks for your encouragement!

I would love to lose 200 lbs.  I started at 354 lbs, and making it to 150 would be awesome.  Honestly I feel so wonderful already at 222 lbs if I stayed here forever I'd be ok with that.  Even making it to 170-180 would be icing on the cake for me.  It's not all about that number on the scale.  I love how I'm feeling now, and I'm off all my medications..I can walk for miles w/no pain, have way more energy..and wearing a size 16.  I had been a size 32 for years and always looked at the big picture..of not thinking of anything but that bottom line number of what I want to be.  Forget that fricken number...just take it day by day..and know that great things can and will happen at various weights for you..you don't have to lose ALL the excess pounds to be feeling awesome and happy with where you're at.

So great to see you posting!!

You are SO RIGHT!!! I used to hurt walking to my car. I never thought there would be a day that i could walk on the treadmill for 25 minutes!

I want to do more and move more. I do want to lose a lot more weight. But I'm starting to feel better and better everyday.

Thanks for the perspective. I'm glad I posted, too!

I hope I can lose 200 pounds. It is overwhelming if you look at the total amount. I started losing a about 3 years ago. First with a liquid diet at a hospital, then with the surgery last year. Now I'm doing Weigh****chers, though it's infinitely easier with the sleeve, let me tell  you. But if you had asked me 3 years ago about it taking that long to lose just 160 pounds, and still not be at my goal weight, I would've been very unhappy. Now I'm thrilled I've done it. So don't let the time it takes be too discouraging. The weight will come off. It  has to when you eat like a sleeved person.

SInce I'm short, I'm still a 1x or 2x, and I'd love to be smaller, but I feel really good. I can fit into booths and airline seats. I'm off all meds. I can walk as long as I feel like it.

When you have a lot to lose I think it's important to celebrate every milestone. Good luck!

Thanks so much. Eating like a sleeved person is an interesting thing. I'm finding that when you're this size, you REALLY have to overcome the habits that got you here in the first place. The sleeve is just a tool, but you have really WORK IT!

Thanks so much for the food for thought!

But you know what, Dawnie, you WILL get to 170-180 and then to whatever goal you want to reach.  We started at about the same place, and we're pretty close to the same place now.  And life is SO much better!

OP, don't worry about the number - celebrate the journey.  Celebrate when you drop a size.  When you can walk farther.  For me, getting down on the floor to fix my garbage disposal was a huge NSV.  Being able to really mop my floors in my house and do a good job was exciting.

Today I played on inflatables at a party - had a moment of hilarity but all was great.

I don't have to be 145 pounds to be happy and have fun.  I can be happy and have fun on the journey.

After all, life itself is a journey!

The sleeve leveled the playing field for me.  Now I can work to make things happen.  I'm loving it. The number on the scale is just that - a number.  It does not define your worth as a person.

BTW I've been told a great big genuine smile takes 50 pounds off :)

Enjoy the journey.  You will learn so much about yourself, and you will find you have to relearn behaviors to get rid of the old.  I tell people I'm having to learn to be a girl - I have always had just one or two necklaces at a time because I needed such a long chain.  Now I can walk into Macys and buy a regular costume necklace like everyone else.  I can buy shoes in medium widths, not extra wide.  And now I am buying clothes in the ladies department - granted in 16s - but I no longer am stuck with just Catherines or catalogs as an option.

Looking back, I have learned so much in the last 9 months, lessons that will help me be successful in the future.

And remember - you may have a long way to go, but the most fun travel is to far away exotic places - and when you get there you have a blast!
