Having second thoughts?
Sadly, less than 10% of people (i think it might only be 5%) can keep the weight off. Those are not good statistics. The problem is that if you don't do something its quite possible your health will get worst. I know for me this was the case. I thank God every day that i did this. You have to do some serious soul searching. If you want to try again to lose the weight, what should you do differently this time so the outcome is different? I wish you all the best, as everyone else said, only you can make this decision. :o) Jeani
I think everyone goes through the same thoughts. I know I did. I did what Tracey W did. I made a list of pros of having the surgery. Things like better health, wearing cute clothes, crossing my legs, feeling pretty, wanting to go out in public and not making every excuse in the world not to go because of my weight, and the list goes on. Then I made a list of the things of what would happen if I didn't have the surgery and most of my cons were health related with diabetes that runs in my family and heart problems. The pros far out weighted the cons.
When I had second thoughts I pulled out my list and it helped to reinforce in my mind why I was having the surgery, believe me I pulled that list out often the closer the surgery got.
The BEST thing I have ever done for myself and would do it again in a heartbeat. My health problems are completely GONE!!! I am accomplishing goals that were on my list. I actually WANT to go out in public and have a good time not feeling like everyone is staring at the fat girl and wondering if that chair will support me.
It was my first surgery EVER. So I was very scared but my surgeon and his staff is wonderful and were very calming for me when I was being put on the table. I was a size 26/28 when I started and now I'm a 12 or a 10. I don't ever remember being that size in my life and I'm LOVING it!!
I know its a very tough decision and I hope you make the one that is right for you. Your surgeon will be able to tell you if you have any special concerns with performing the surgery.
Please make that list it does make a difference when you actually see it in writing.
Good luck to you in your journey and I hope I have helped you. Again these are only MY opinions you must decide for yourself.

Oh, yes! Doubts are part of the package. Keep your eye on the prize and forge ahead. The morning I was driving to the hospital for surgery I wondered what in the world I was doing. Waiting for surgery I thought I must be nuts. They wheeled me away before I could get up and leave. Well, no, it wasn't that bad but I sure had my doubts right up until the end. And am I ever glad I had it. I feel great! Better than ever. And remember, if you could do it on your own you'd have done it by now.
If you can, watch the surgery being performed. There are websites that show the surgeries, I'm not sure where they are, I remember reading a post on this site a few weeks ago.
I watched a sleeve surgery on a tv program in Nov. of last year and it really helped ease my fear of the unknown. I went into surgery with complete confidence in my surgeon (he's an awesome doctor to begin with) and my following the preop program they gave me that everything would be fine! And it was. Hope this helps a little.

wow! I have been a lurker for so long but am grateful for your responses and just glad I got the courage to ask for some advice. Thank you for all that responded. I am going to work on a list....call my doctor to get his specific thoughts on my case and my surgery...while he was very nice I felt his answers were based on facts and the surgery in general not catered to me. I did mention my health issues and he just said oh yes it will be improved after surgery...BTW I am in So Cal.
You know what is strange guys. My husband is totally pushing me to do it. He has only known me as a big girl. Felt a little angry that he just ignores my fears and says just get it done already.

maybe we can all talk about it together it might help, good luck with the choice you make
