Approval - Yes!!
Just got notifiication that insurance has approved me for the Sleeve! WooHoo! Got to have the workshop and my EGD, then 2 weeks of Optifast. Has anyone tried the Optifast by the way? Which flavors are the best? I'm just soo excited and had to share. Thanks everyone for your support throughout this process!
I am doing great. Advancing my diet slowly, learning my limits (you can't eat much) I measure and write everything down that passes these lips. I am weaning off of my bp meds already! I also journal about my feelings and experiences. I am learning a lot! I took off for 8 weeks, probably only needed 4-6 but hey I don't take time off that often so I deserve it and it is allowing me plenty of time to get exercise in. I work 4- 10 hour days. It is not all easy! I think that the liquid diet preop was hardest for the first 4 days. I was also allowed to have sf jello and chicken broth and 3 shakes. The first 3-4 days post op wasn't fun either but I knew that already. You just have to do the work and get up and move. I just took 4 big bags of clothes to good will. Winter clothes that will NEVER fit me again!
I'm on my third week of Optifast (we do a month of Optifast with one meal a day), and we got to try the ready to drink shakes before buying any. I only liked the chocolate, and I was so worried that I would be sick of them. Week three, and I still like them! The vanilla tasted...mealy? The strawberry was far too sweet. The chocolate is just right!
