Well, I was hoping that I could use Slim Fast for my shake.... DID NOT WORK! Creamy Milk Chocolate was not a delight... OH friends, WHAT AM I TO DO!  Just smelling this stuff has turned my stomach. I did eat a sandwich for lunch and I'm pretty satisfied with that. I had an Atkins bar earlier...It didn't sit well with me either. I'm just concerned with after surgery and the protein shakes I will HAVE to drink. I'm ok with exercising, (I actually walked a mile AFTER my workout from Curves last night! YAY ME!!) and I will continue to work out and walk DAILY. I can cut back on the carbs (eliminate them) and eat more protein (baked and grilled chicken dishes), and I've been on point about taking my vits. IT'S JUST THIS DARNED PROTEIN SHAKE BUSINESS! I am not one to eat or drink something that taste NASTY to me. I don't know many people who can or do! I REALLY want this surgery. I really do! Guess I'll go over to Eggface and see what she says. I'm 0 for 2 right now....

The only shake I've been able to tolerate are the Slimfast (or Safeway equivalent) of the Royale Chocolate (not the Creamy Chocolate) or Vanilla shakes in the CANS.  I can't do powder of any kind, I gag and throw up.  I keep them in the fridge and then put them in the freezer 30 minutes or so before drinking so they get a little icy.  Unfortunately they don't have as much protein as the other shakes.

Sorry you haven't had any luck so far with the protein drinks.  Have you tried Premier Nutrition from Costco?  I'm not sure if they are still sending out samples but you could always try.  Good Luck!

I've said this on here a millioin times and stick by it!!  I am like you when i just can't force myself to eat or drink anything I don't like.  I searched a lot for shakes and found Jay Robb powder.  IT IS AMAZING.  No joke.  You can order it on his website or get it at GNC.  GNC will also let you buy it and try it and return it if you don't like it.  He has amazing flavors like Pina Colada (my fav), Tropical Dreamsicle, Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and unflavored.  I have tried all except the unflavored and they all rock.  Thhe best part is that each shake is 25g of protein and has NO sugar or artifical sweetners.  I would just drink them all day if I could...they taste like smoothies!!  MmMmMmMMMM!!!!

I just ordered his sample pack. I'm sooooooooo hoping these work. I'm aiming to have surgery at the end of May, so that will give me a little over a month to do what I need to do. I'll let you know!

Awesome!!  Let me know!  :-) I think they are wonderful!  Got my mom and whole family buying them now since they are always trying to steal MINE!  LOL  Oh yeah, and it says you can mix with water, juice, or milk.  I mix mine with 1% milk.  Never tried mixing with water or anything else.  Tried almond milk once but that was too thick for me!  After I mix it all up then I put crushed ice in it.  mmmm

there used to be a member on here :  Tantrica .... she had tons of shake & protein bar recipes in her archives.
See if she is still listed as a member and check out her blog - click on some of her archives and see if you can find them

I really like the Jay Robb Whey Protein shakes. They do not have that overwhelming protein smell or flavor. If there's a Whole Foods close to you, you can get the individual serving envelopes, so you can try all of their flavors without having to make an investment in a big tub of the stuff. You can also order them online if you do not have a Whole Foods by you. Good luck!

I've been playing around with shakes and so far I really like EAS Myoplex Lite. they also make a carb control.  The chocolate is really creamy  and the strawberry isn't too bad either.

I'll let ya know if I find any other brands.

FYI:  BEWARE:  Your tastebuds will more than likely change after surgery.  Search for sample shakes now and you probably will have to again after surgery.

Good luck honey!
