At 6 weeks regular food will probably be ok, I wouldn't worry about it too much! When you get even to the pureed food stage, you will find that you just can't hold that much, and it's less of a big deal than you thought it would be.

i was pretty much eating whatever at 6 weeks, other than raw veggies,  i was told no salads for 3 months, but other than that i could eat anything.   Soups,  eggs,  chili,  meats,  just chew really well and eat slowly.  I'm sure you'll be fine   :o) jeani

Jeani,
I am FEENING a salad soooooo bad. I "get" the hard veggies. Right now I would be happy with greens, spinach, maybe mushrooms(sauted even) to get my salad fix. Can you tell my why no salad for 3 mos. I am gonna be 2 mos plus on my cruise next mos and I would love to be able to eat some kind of salad during that. Thanks for your answer.

Well let me first say that a lot of other people say they were not told that.  i was,  the reason i was given was because the fibers from the raw veggies could slip under the staple and cause them to loosen and maybe cause a leak,  well that doesn't sound right to me,  i was told all veggies had to be cooked very soft.   i can totally see it for the first month or so but i thought the scar tissue grew around the staples and sealed them up after the first month or so?  so who knows? I was just scared and so i didn't eat one until three months,  man was that first salad good.  Maybe ask your surgeon or nut and see what they say.  If i was doing my surgery now i would do a few things differently but thankfully no do overs are necessary.  :o) jeani

My surgeon also said no raw vegies or salads until 3 months out. His reasoning is that the fibers in salads are hard to digest, and that we tend not to chew salads/ raw vegies enough and that in his experience it can cause a "back up" -- he told me that he has had to go in and "roto-router" a couple of patients that ate salad early on.

Check your surgeons suggestions for foods at 6 weeks. That early on, it is mostly protein anyway....find somewhere to go that serves alot of fresh fish !!
