Round three
So! Here I am on OH again having sleeve surgey on Wednesday. To make a long story short I have been a member for a few years. Had A lap band in May 2006 and did great for over a year. Then the baloon ruptured and had a replacemnt done and nothing was ever the same. I was unable to get my band adjusted correctly. There was no happy medium, either it was to loose or with a tenth of a cc of fluid I couldn't swallow my own saliva. About a year ago the fluid was removed and a sleeve was suggested. I gave up shut down and gained back 40 pounds. Within a year my blood pressure medicine doubled back on cpap and it has come down to do or die shall i say. I am scared but more so about the route I am going. It just amazes me the power food can have in my life! Surgery in 1 week from today. HELP!!!!
PS I have no idea how to change my profile from posy op to pre op again and a different procedure LOL

Hello Ladies! I had my band for just under 3 years. The first year was great, I lost about 65 lbs. Then the trouble started (similar trouble to what I think Amber described in her post)...one day I would be able to eat everything under the sun and then the next day I couldn't even drink water. I could rarely eat anything of substance and instead only junk would go down. I was vomiting all the time. Finally, I had the band completely unfilled.
Anyway, I eventually revised to the sleeve (after regaining nearly all of the weight I lost, of course!) and it has been fantastic! Like a band that actually works. I am satisfied with small amounts of food and I have never vomited with my sleeve.
Best of luck to both of you,
Lindsey

So sorry to hear that! Can't imagine not being able to swallow my saliva! That must have been miserable! I considered the band but couldn't work my head around all the "what ifs" with slippages, fills working or not working, etc. I felt the sleeve was more of a sure and solid thing. I haven't regretted it at all. Congrats on taking the steps to re-start this journey! Hop aboard! It's a helluva ride!!!
