Formula for success rate

After seeing how much faster and how much more weight others here were losing, I kinda felt short changed.  Never down about it, just wished I lost faster too.  I'm doing everything my Dr recommends, but I'm not losing it like others here are.  Don't get me wrong, I'm still amazed that I've lost 85 lbs!

I had my almost 10 month check up today and my Dr made me feel like a million bucks!  He showed me his formula for success rate and said I've already passed the "norm" of VSG patients losing 60-80% of their excess weight within their first A YEAR AND A HALF following surgery!

There's hope for all of us who think we're not losing as quickly or as much as one of our sleeve sisters/brothers.  Seeing the % of excess weight loss puts a whole new perspective on it.

For those interested, here's how he figured it out:
1. Your starting weight, minus that unrealistic weight on the charts = your excess weight.
2. The amount of weight you've lost divided by your excess body weight = % of excess weight you've lost.

Best to all on your journey!

I can help...I like math!  If you started at 270 and your goal is 150, we going to say that your excess weight was 120 lbs.  88 is 73% of that.  You are rockin' along!!

from your high weight......  392-175=217     102/217=65%    nice work!

since your sleeve starting weight......  332-175=157   42/157=26.7%
that's 26.7% of your excess weight lost with your sleeve already!

Both my surgeon and NUT say to look at % of excess weight lost, too. However, they failed to provide the formula. Thanks.
