I had this yesterday and today. My daughter and I went to a Greek restaurant and I order the meat and the sauce. The meat is very soft and o so good. They gave me enough for 5 meals. I love it! Has anyone else tried it. Do you think it is OK to eat??
Hope everyone is doing well. Still no Internet at home work is all I have.

I agree it tastes yummy, but I looked it up and it's pretty high in sodium and not so great for protein.  Sure won't hurt once in awhile.  Everything in moderation, ya know.

I was wondering the same thing, I love it!  I just looked up the nut stats:
each 2 oz serving of the meat has 100 calories, 8 g fat, and 4 g protein.
So, kind of a lot of fat for little protein, but I will still be eating it in little amounts

I got a gyro last weekend at a Greek restaurant and it was great.  Because of the small amount I eat, I think it is fine!  I took the rest of it home and my son ate it never missing some of the meat!

It might be high in sodium but it should have the same amount of protein as a piece of steak, because that is all it is, unless it's lamb.  I love the gyro meat and was wondering how to make it.  I don't see why you can't eat it as often as you would eat other meat, other than the sodium.

Why would the protein count be so low if it's meat? 4 grams seems really low to me.

Gyro meat is rich in protein. Each 4 oz. serving of this meat contains 16.2 g of protein. MedlinePlus recommends consuming 50 g to 65 g of protein every day. This means that a 4 oz. serving of gyro meat provides about 25 percent of your daily recommended protein intake.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE gyro meat and will make salads with it all the time. I buy mine from a Middle Eastern grocery store in the freezer section. Way cheap!
