Just had to share
I just wanted to share a portion of an article that was in Self Magazine. I thought that everyone in my OH family would be interested. They had a “Bod Lib" that you could write to your daughter or granddaughter. It definitely could and should be tailored to your sons and grandsons as well. I really want my daughter to grow up being a happy little girl with positive self esteem. Hopefully in doing so she will know that being healthy is what matters and won’t have the same issues with weight that I did. So here it is:
Write a Happy Body Letter to your Daughter or Granddaughter (Son or Grandson)
You, my ___________ (glowing adjective) daughter, should know that when I was your age, I, too, was a ___________ (glowing adjective), healthy girl. I had a body that let me ______________ (something active you like to do) and ___________ (something fun you like to do). I know now that I was ___________ (positive adjective). Back then, though, I sometimes felt ___________ (negative emotion) about my body. I wondered, “Do I look ___________ (negative adjective) in this outfit?" Sometimes, I felt _________ (negative emotion) when I looked in the mirror, or I’d try on a ___________ (type of clothing) that didn’t fit well and I felt ____________ (negative emotion). So this is what I wish for you: Put on your __________ (favorite pair of shoes) and ____________ (favorite physical activity) in them until they’re worn through. Always remember that you’re ___________ (admirable personal trait), _____________ (admirable family personality trait) and ____________ (positive emotion) are what truly matter-not a number on the scale. You’re part of a long line of __________ (powerful adjective) women, so celebrate yourself!
