i haven't been able to get my fluids in. every time i put something in, it comes bck up. ugh. nausea is a bxtch. i've tried walking laps but nothing is working. they've given me all kinds of meds but to no avail. advice? i'll be here an extra day or until i can get 6 30cc's down in an hour. so far all i can do is 2. pray for me. surgery itself went fine. no complications. Thank God.

You sound great!!I can't give advice this did not happen to me ,but wanted to welcome you .Take care of yourself,walk rest sip repeat.I started with the chipped ice seemed to go down fast and easier then popciles they are counted as fluids I liked the cold I think also helped with swelling.

I had esophageal spasms pretty bad and I think they gave me reglan for that and toridol for the swelling...after half a day everything was better.

It will get better!

It was so good seeing you on yesterday. I know you are feeling a little discouraged about not getting your fluids and stuff in but you will eventually. I will pray that you will be able to go home soon! :) Keep your head up!

congrats on your sugery and welcome to the losers bench!!

Tell them to try dramamine (for sea sickness but stops the nausea) - they can put the tab behind your ear. I had the same problem and they gave me everything bug the dramamine worked and was able to go home (spent 2 nights in hosp).

you dont want to get dehydrated.
I have seen & heard awful stories..
