Hello all hope all is well with you all today. I am all most a year out now next month. For the past 6 months I would see people running on the treadmill or on the street and I would tell my husband I want to run.

He kept telling me I could but I smoked 21/2 packs of cigarettes for like 10 years and when I would try to run it killed I could not breath.
.
But today I am so happy to say I jogged my first mile at the speed of 3.5 it took me 17.07 seconds but I did it I kept telling my self the whole time I could do this. I ran this after I walked 40 minutes after walking at 3.5 I was not ready to quit so running started.

Thanks all this group is great.
My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

I can barely walk 3.0 for 30 minutes.  You are an inspiration.

Valerie, that gave me chills and my eyes welled up !! I am so happy for you !!

One of my goals after surgery was to play soccer with my daughter. They had a parent/kid soccer game and I played !! It was one of the happiest times in my life. I cried like a baby. It was so awesome !! Congrats !!!

Congratulations!  That is so awesome!!

I still am not ready to start running yet.  I am walking faster and faster for longer and longer on the treadmill, but when I try to run, it just doesn't work for me.  One day!

Maybe one day you can make quitting smoking your next goal, then you'll be ready to train for a marathon!

Oh wait, my apologies, I think I may have read your post wrong.  It looks like you already did quit smoking.  I'm sorry!

So you're ready NOW to train for a marathon!!

That is ok. I quit smoking a year ago so I could have the wls. My surgeon told me if he tested me and found I did not quit smoking he would not do surgery on me. Because I wanted the wls so bad I put them down.
My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

Quitting smoking was great.  It was so nice not to be tied to it anymore.  Being at work wanting a cigarette all day.  Being in a really good movie and dying to go out and smoke, but not wanting to miss any of it.  And I'm sure I smell way better, too!

Congratulations on both of your acheivements!!

Way to go!! I still don't run. I can walk for days, but running just isn't my thing - never was - even when I was a young, competitive athlete. Oh, well.
