Not feeling great, having trouble with nutrition

I am almost 8 months post op. I'm almost at goal! Yeah!

However.....

The last two weeks I have been feeling lethargic and super tired. My patience hasn't been at it's best either. I've had my blood drawn twice in the last two weeks and will again this afternoon. So far the results have shown that my iron saturation level is very low; 3, average is 11-15. My potassium is also low. So I have been taking iron and trying to eat more fruit and iron rich food.

Has anyone else gone through a patch like this? How long til I feel better? I am over it!

I'm struggling with anemia too and take an iron supplement. Way to go on your accomplishment and hope to be in your rearview soon. Not sure how long it will take as I have not had my next set of labwork yet. Take care and let me know if I can help.

Can you talk to your doctor about iron infusions? I don't know how much they cost, but the effect is much quicker.

The lethargic is very likely the anemia, so once you get your iron levels up you should feel much better. Do watch your (sorry TMI) bowel movements - iron can constipate. If you have troubles, try taking two colace a day to soften things up, along with some fiber.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for the advice. I'll ask about the iron infusions today.

Sorry to hear about the iron deficiency.  At least it's something that can be worked on versus a major surgical complication.  I haven't had any nutrition deficiencies and have been diligent with my vitamins.  I do know constipation despite drinking water.  Just wanted to pass along a tip of adding the flavorless Benefiber powder to my water drinks to help "move things along".  A hemorrhoid is not a good companion I assure you.
