Shower ..Shampoo..when?

Just wondering how soon you can shower after surgery?

And did anyone have difficulty leaning over sink/tub to shampoo hair w/o discomfort?

As soon as the IV came out while I was in the hospital I jumped in that shower, drain hanging.. It felt sooo good. I was not comfortable to bend and hold that position for a week or so.. but showers, no issue!

I wasn't allowed to until my drain was removed, which was 6 days after surgery. I think most people can shower sooner than that, though.

I ended up giving myself a sponge bath and washed my hair in the sink with only slight discomfort.

5'5" Goal reached, but fighting regain. Back to Basics.

I was allowed with the drain in - good thing - I had it 2 weeks. You just have to change the dressing after showering. Felt really good!

I showered the next day after I got home. Drain was already removed.

I will add this question to my list for surgeon when I see him next week. Surgery is Aug 5th.. YEAH

I didn't have a drain. When I asked my surgeon the second day after surgery when I could shower he said, yesterday! Wish I had known to ask ahead of time. Nothing like feeling yucky in the hospital. A nice shower refreshes you and perks you up!
