Frozen Protein Shakes

Though I don't always read all of the food posts (because, as I've mentioned here, if it has more than three ingredients, I'm not going to make it anyway), I haven't heard anyone mention doing frozen protein shakes.

Just to see what would happen, I put a couple of premixed protein shakes in the freezer last night.  Tried one this afternoon.  It actually wasn't bad.  Probably better for me than a couple of sugar-free fudgesicles, too.  It was cold, it was chocolate, it counts as liquid, and it took me an hour to eat it (versus about five minutes to drink the same thing).  I just peeled off the container as I ate my  way down, but if you had some of those little tupperware or plastic things people used to use to make kool-aid popsicles for kids, pouring the shake in those before freezing would probably work better.

It isn't nearly as hot in western Oregon as a lot of the rest of the country (it got up to a whopping 88 degrees today) but this might be worth a try for those of you in the middle of the heat wave.

Sounds good and cooling. I'll give it a try.

Did the same with greek yogurt with SF Chocolate and SF Peppermint syrup (that's only 3 ingredients). Tasted like that green chocolate mint ice cream...but the texture was a little weird. So now I freeze it for only an hour or two---not solid. Evening snack instead of a Popsicle.

Just a step above hell here in ATL. It's 8:30pm and my computer says 93.

Here you go with one ingredient....freeze one shake in an ice cube tray.. When frozen pop half of them into blender with half of a cold , but not frozen shake and blend,  A protein frosty!!  You will have enough for 2.  I use EAS Advantage carb lite in the chocolate.  I also freeze protein bars.

I dont like just sticking a RTD protein shake in the freezer. for me it seperates and i dont like
the just plain icey part.    On egg face she has some great protein ice cream recipes, so I
have heard but never tried them.

I am too into my greens right now.   Ms Shell suggested adding chocolate protein powder
and it is yummy.  Just freaking gimmie the greens!!!   lol
