Surgery Date Schedule but....
Hey all!
I just got THE call today regarding my insurance approval and my scheduled surgery date: August 10th!
The trouble is, I've been researching and reading and preparing and trying to be intellectual about this whole thing. Now that I'm down to the nitty gritty, I'm scared to death!
My nerves have bubbled up to the point where I'm tempted to postpone.
Any wise words that might help calm some pretty serious jitters would be SO appreciated.

I understand the nerves. Feeling them here, too. My surgery date is a week from today. I don't think it is the mortality issue I am so much worried about as my dislike of pain and hospitals and the potential of feeling sick and beaten up for the next month or more.
My only previous experience with surgery was when I broke both of my arms at once and had two (out of four) surgeries back to back and got super sick on pain meds, had a lot of trouble getting attention at the hospital and so on. I am going to be pretty much alone at the hospital this time. I have a friend who will take me there and take me home, but she lives about 2 hours from the hospital so I am not expecting her to come around that day.
