help please. is this normal
Well.. I think you are going to have to give a better description of the pain. It could be a couple things (other than the fact that you just had your stomach cut 3 days ago), it could be spasms, swelling, acid, your sutures pulling. Certainly wouldn't hurt to place a call into your docs office. Best of luck and wishes for happy healing.
Are you keeping up on your pain meds? Is the pain inside your stomach or your around the muscles (feels like you did a 1,000 sit ups)?
You are 3 days out and need to keep up on pain killers, that's what they are there for. You are healing so yes it is normal to a point.
Did your doc give you a script for a PPI like prilosec? I noticed some docs don't and not sure why. We are still making acid even with the smaller tummy so I feel everyone needs that in the beginning.

hello again. i am not taking any pain meds. i havent since the night of my surgery. its not soreness from the incision sites. those feel pretty good.
and i started the prilosec yesterday as directed. i know i need to drink more but stuggled with vomiting the first 2 days due to anesthia and morphine.

Yeah, the prilosec can take more than a week to help you if it's acid.
You HAVE to drink, just sip and sip. That will def make you feel worse if you are not hydrated. Try warm, cold, or room temp liquids and see which you can tolerate better.
I was def taking pain meds at 3 days post op. The morphine made me a bit sick too (along with blood clots) but at home I was given liquid pain meds and they definitely helped.

I just had surgery 3 weeks ago and the 3rd day was definitely my worst day for pain. I think that's when the pain meds from the hospital finally wore off or something. I placed a call to my doctor just in case and yes it was just the normal healing process. I hardly feel any pain at all now so just push through it and take the pain meds as often as you need to (I took mine like clockwork every 4 hrs :)) It gets better!
They cut me off of my pain meds two days after being home. The pain is nuts, and my doctor told me that i needed to take gas x to get rid of some of the excess air in my body. it felt like right under my rib cage had a 100 lb weight in it hanging there. your stomach will get better with the pain, it just takes alot of getting used to. i had to force myself to eat/drink my liquids. it does get better, i promise! I am two weeks since my surgery and feeling normal again, i promise its like one day you wake up and you know you are going to be ok! happy healing. remember to keep walking, that is key. and dont forget to sip!
